Hi, hello, I'm popping back in temporarily to remind our overworked and over-pressed dev team that I am ready body and soul for male viis/viera.
Thank you. /Bow

I won't be coming back to FFXIV's forums. The forum vibe is way too venomous and brings out the worst in me. I don't like who I am on the forums, so it's best to distance myself.

If every viera helmet is open eared, I'm not sure this makes a difference, but I don't know for every single helmet in the game.Miqo'te ears can be small, but they aren't less annoying modeling-wise for it.
Though it depends a lot on what kind of helmet they would like to do, if it's ever to be done, since there are 2 types of helmets for Miqo'te.
If it's a helmet with open ears, than it's not much of a problem since they only need to add holes in appropriate places. And since ears itself, no matter their shape, a placed in more or less the same area, this can be worked out well without too much of a hassle even.
Hovewer, if it's a helmet with closed ears - that's where the real issue begins since every helmet would ask for 4 models with sizeable ears in mind. Though frankly speaking, I could quess that players would be fine with having only open ears helmets, as long as it means that they can wear them at all. Not that I can say for sure, since people are different and can have different opinion on this matter.
P.S. Welcome back to Viera squad, I see?
The viera ears all stick out of the same point of the head, and even though they can get longer, they don't get thicker/wider, so the ear holes can remain the same across all the models. Though that would depend on if the base of all four ear models are the same, or close enough to make it work. My only hesitation is if there are helmets that have any kind of horn or embellishment that would clip through the ears... in which case there are hats on miquotes that remove the ears entirely, so that could be the compromise to make them wearable.
I'm thinking of the latest cap from the valentiones event, no ear holes for us, and the hat doesn't mold around them, we just lose our ears entirely wearing it. If certain hats would cause clipping issues on viera, they could do the same thing there as a final solution.
just hide the ears and done imoIf every viera helmet is open eared, I'm not sure this makes a difference, but I don't know for every single helmet in the game.

on the subject of cat ears, i was a little bothered by them being hidden, but as i lay scratching my cat's head, and his ears, i realize how flexible and soft it is. so i think it wouldn't be much of a stretch for a miqote's ears to be easily folded like a cat's ear

I truly hope we may one day get male viera! The patch has renewed my love for the game/game creators and I KNOW they could do them justice!!

They can be, but I don't think cats like their ears to be folded or played with too much. Funny story, there was this stray cat who used to come around my old house. A mouser I guess, it's ears blew up and were crumpled and folded. Kind of random, but it reminded me of him.

I think they probs can make an incredible design after seeing how they made female vieras. What worries me is how theyll make female hrothgar tbh

They actually do, quite a lot. It's just that those hats aren't common to see as glamours, and well, most Miqo'te I witness don't use hat for glamour at all. Though yes, they started to make more hats without ears (and in most cases I'm honestly glad to see it this way, but that's personal opinion).
Also I didn't say that the work is easy or fast to do. I only said that there are ways to make it a bit easier if do just holes instead of covered models. Even then there will be hats that are difficult to adjust, but for a big chunk of helmest there is a somewhat simple solution. Still long to do anyway, so I doubt that Viera will ever get the 100% amount of hats, though who knows.
