You can get banned for swearing but there's a chat filter.

You can get banned for spamming abilities but you can turn other people's abilities off.

Sadly its not the game the majority of todays gamers are nothing but little crybabys over everything and to make things worse the spineless staff on games any more just suck it up and say well this person was a crybaby and complained we have no choice but to ban.
Really, I don't blame the game when the real problem is todays gamers are basically babies like they haven't been in high school or something and deal with real issues instead of fantasy world ones.

"Spamming" an ability is not the same as spamming. Spamming is spamming a chat. Repeating something over and over again. Using an ability over and over again is not "spamming" in that sense. Or, are you saying I can now legit report WHM that holy "spam" during trash pulls... or Bards that spam quick nock because its "Spamming"

well, if they turn them off then ppl cannot watch their skill in other city to see how they look, it's not legel that you cast your skill in the city, but it's illegal that you use it and alot of ppl feel that you abuse your skill to annoying them, so cast it else where that has less ppl

like, i can make a party in my house, there is no law to prevet it, but when my party start to annoying my neiborhood then they can call police on me, fair and square

I 100,000% bet you, it took longer to report someone for something that the person felt "bothered by" than to turn off other players spell effects. It takes like 5 seconds to turn them off tops. There already is a solution. Its in the settings. Its called turning other players spell effects off. Its easy to do. And if you do alliance raids as a melee with them all on....

People go to lightshows intentionally, people standing next to someone uselessly, and annoyingly, spamming holy in a city probably isn't intentional.

And I shouldn't have to mute everyone else's sound effects and turn off everyone else's spell effects just because of ONE person.

Someone on the development team that gives GMs the “OK” to ban for stupid crap like this, seriously needs to re evaluate how they handle situations like that.

I dunno about that, seems pretty clear-cut to me that they got what they deserved. If they didn't want to potentially get banned they shouldn't have done something as stupid as spamming holy, uselessly and without actual merit, in a city.

If you don't like how a spot looks and the people acting there like using abilitys then move go to ul'dah or any other down or go to a diffrent area on the map not going to feel sorry for someone who choices to stand in a spot then say "thats spam" thats like the dumbest thing in the world like might as well go take a selfie with a shark.
