I wouldn't have a problem with this implementation either as it achieves the desired effect of removing the unwanted imagery. This isn't about making any one person in particular wear a certain thing, it's just about them not appearing on your screen.

Also just a minor detail with no great impact but with such a toggle option you could also "force" (whatever glam is the default then) glam onto chars and make screenshots with them. <think> Since it would be appropriate default gear it's not a big problem but still something. That would be something that affects other players when they share these screenshots which show your char with altered glam.

This has been mentioned already.
you can already do this with mods or fantasia (duplicate someones character and make whatever screenshots you want) . If someone wishes to be malicious, official implementations aren't going to stop/enable them any more than it already is.

I don't entirely disagree with either of these things though that doesn't mean I want an option to make that easier for someone to do, and I still think"deal with it" can be applied to both sides here but hey you got me past the impasse here
