HA! Plenty of demand? No. Far from. It's like ten to twenty people max.In your opinion. Though as this thread proves, there's plenty of demand for such a feature to be implemented - and it's the sort of feature that doesn't need the permission of the targeted players as it doesn't affect them in any way whatsoever and the features listed in my previous post prove that there is an established precedent.
Luckily the development team are also well aware that they cannot simply cater to one particular type of player, so there's a decent chance that further toggles and restrictions on other players will be implemented over time. More options means more options across the board, not just when it suits someone to have a feature that they, specifically, enjoy.
It's funny how salty people are getting over reading some people find your glamour so terrible that they want to just block glamours on their own end....
For me, I will say I'm sick of seeing bunny ladies running around in just the thong underwear they start with and a bikini top.... Makes me wish I was on PC to install the mod that turns those into the worn shepherd's gear from the quests leading up to the first fight against Ifrit.
Not sure about others, but for me, this wasn't about glamour at all, even from the beginning. I just take great offense to people telling me what I can and can't do with my screen. Given that the images we're seeing on our screens are zeros and ones stored on our physical computers, you need a really good reason to deny me the freedoms to do what I want with those zeros and ones, because restricting those freedoms is basically saying "oh hey, you may not do x, y, and z with your ram" (which is where this temporary information is stored)Next thing we know, people will want to censor all of scantily clad NPCs, such as this Buduga boi to my left here (apologies in advance for exposing you all tomy stripperific outfit, I need a bigger wardrobe lol).
Idk I still think that people getting this excitable over glams and whether or not one's choice of self-expression is endangered should the feature OP suggested ever happen is just ... It's silly. I think it's silly! Just make up, hug it out, and enjoy the game! Please!
Good reasons include:
-Harassment. If I undress your character and post screenshots everywhere, then that's wrong.
-Gameplay balance. Cheat programs and trainers are bad. Reshade is tolerated.
-Harm to the game company. If I damage Square Enix's reputation or deny them money somehow, then that's bad.
...but if I'm not harming you and/or Square Enix in some way, you really have no right to tell me what I can and can't do.
The game has a precedent for adding things that allow players to tweak the game to their liking. It also has a global audience and the desires of players across the board are not necessarily aligned or cohesive, so there is often a measure of give and take as well as compromising involved.
Nope, we gotta ban you and all the Au Ra people in the step. You all become default modeled midlanders. Enjoy your new feature! /sNext thing we know, people will want to censor all of the scantily clad NPCs, such as this Buduga boi to my left here (apologies in advance for exposing you all to my stripperific outfit, I need a bigger wardrobe lol).

But yeah, I'm excited for the new stuff! I always enjoy seeing new dungeons and trials so I'm most excited for those!
Yeah. This thread isn't a good indicator of any sizable demand or opposition. To some degree it is the same people posting repeatedly along with a few others chiming in every now and then. Just because there's 58 pages doesn't really mean much.
I'm sure that some people around the world want the exact same things, but this thread is the first I've ever heard of this...issue actually being an issue. And I've been around awhile! The game has a precedent for adding things that allow players to tweak the game to their liking. It also has a global audience and the desires of players across the board are not necessarily aligned or cohesive, so there is often a measure of give and take as well as compromising involved.
There have always been sexy or ridiculous outfits in the game, and you can make any outfit look crazy with certain dye choices. I think that if there was a strong opposition against seeing other people glam like this we would have seen it begin several years ago. And we also would have seen a variety of threads pop up every so often, like we do when players are frustrated with the housing system or the lack of a parser. I spend a lot of time in the forums and up to now every thread I have seen complaining about glams has been relating to unlocking gendered outfits (maybe I missed others, I'm not omnipresent). The male bunny suit being the famous one.
I also think a lot of people who are in support of OP's option didn't think that in non-combat zones the option to turn off glam could have zero effect on players sharp enough to realise that if they just wear the gear of glam they intended to have, no one could remove their outfits. And they also didn't consider that a lot of combat gear is the opposite of being lore appropriate or being appropriate for the class the person is playing. Nevermind what a mess people can look like without glams due to mismatching gear.
Outfits that we may dislike seeing are here to stay whether we like it or not. OP's option isn't a fix for this at all. There is always a way around it, and the combat gear SE themselves design isn't guaranteed to be within their taste or standards.
