Soooo. For those who are ok with having a 'turn off glamour' toggle, here's how it should work:

    1) You no longer see any glamours on-screen, including your own. There is a single default outfit and weapon for all players [because it's easier to program]

    2) You appear to everybody else in that single default outfit and weapon. Why should we be subjected to YOUR glamour when you tune out OUR glamour?

I'm still so amazed how the opposition is this fierce.

For my opinion on this, I'm actually quite in favor with this. While I do find some glamours to be distasteful, my main reason to side with this request is because it may help to improve the game performance for some people and in some instances.

Take Guild Wars 2 for example. The game has settings to lower the quality of other PC gears which can help increase FPS and on lowest setting, replace them with some generic gears (they're quite unseemly imo but I'd take it over being laggy from instance congestions). It is also under graphic options, which means it doesn't affect the server in any way, only the user's platform.

I can see this being helpful to reduce lag in some instances (hunts, FATE, Eureka, alliance raid) and if FFXIV ever introduce the same feature, I would likely use it in those instances to increase my game performance. The change of gears will be on client only, nobody's freedom is infringed by it and if it helps some people to play and experience the game better I see no reason to be against it.
