Ah, that makes sense! I just find it kinda silly how people would take things like in-game fashion seriously (at least to this amount of extremity), but at the same time I can understand.
Ohhh ... That explains a lot, then! Ahah!~
So I was agreeing with you the whole time? Who knew? You didn't "refute" anything.
Me participating in this for 20 pages means I have no conviction and don't believe what I'm saying? Okay.
You're right, it shouldn't have to matter how many times I have to say it, in fact I could say it zero times and never post here and what I think wouldn't change.
You're willing to go 20 pages, but throw your hands up at 21+? That's some strong conviction.
By posting on here you opened yourself up to the possibility of changing your mind. If you don't think your opinion on this would have been changed then why did you bother?

Wow, you guys are still going, huh? If OP is the enormous troll I think they are, then this is a resounding success.
I personally don't care about this proposed feature either way. You want to look at mismatched armor all day, knock yourself out. Want to see my catboy in the very wedding-dress like 80 WHM artifact gear or the skins-ahoy 80 DNC set instead of the ankle-length coat I glammed him into? Seems like the opposite of what you're going for, but ok. No skin off my nose.
But in the end, OP and a lot of people in this thread (who I assume are actual adults) are still throwing a massive public tantrum over something really stupid that has no actual bearing on their lives, and all their reasons and arguments are pretty telling. Maybe it's time you lot grew up and got over your weird hangups.
I am arguing in the thread because I do not like the anti-choice stance the opposing side has taken. It has much more to do with that than the ridiculous glamour I have seen. Though I will admit chocobo suits in a cutscene are immersion breaking for sure. But in the end, OP and a lot of people in this thread (who I assume are actual adults) are still throwing a massive public tantrum over something really stupid that has no actual bearing on their lives, and all their reasons and arguments are pretty telling. The reason you're not seeing a "compelling argument" is that the whole argument boils down to a disagreement over where the line is drawn about what control we have over our characters. You've yet to produce a compelling argument for why something like this shouldn't exist. All I've seen is that you believe that it would somehow remove your ability to glamour how you want, despite being told time and again that wouldn't be the case. If you were actually adamant about your stance, if you truly believe what you you're saying is correct, then it shouldn't matter how many times you have to say it. Just going "I don't care" after being refuted shows that you don't have any conviction and don't believe your own arguments.
If you disagree then no argument can be made to sound compelling.
And I disagree that giving up on continuing the argument means there's inherently no merit to the case - there are only so many times both sides can repeat the exact same arguments without budging, and people are already remarking about how both sides are keeping on going.
It shouldn't have to be a staring match where both sides keep going until one gets tired and the other "wins". Especially over an internet argument about a feature that doesn't even exist.
The game's community is insular enough already. People barely even talk in DF, now they don't even want to see each other? That's ridiculous.
I can disagree and still understand the opposing side. Up to a point. Changing what I see on my screen doesn't remove any control of your character from you. It's no different than if I was to turn off spell effects because I didn't care for the flashy-ness of them. Am I removing the developers ability to keep adding them or making them as flashy as they want? No.The reason you're not seeing a "compelling argument" is that the whole argument boils down to a disagreement over where the line is drawn about what control we have over our characters.

As I said before on here, it's not about "winning", there's nothing to win. It's about expressing an idea or opinion and debating their merits.

For me, it's because the OP made this thread because they dislike the idea of men in dresses. These threads literally only pop up when it is a male character somehow breaking a gender norm. Did this thread pop up when women got dresses? No. Did they use women as suits as an example? No. Men in dresses were the trigger. If I genuinely believed for even one second the majority of people wanting this feature genuinely just wanted immersion or whatever, then fine. But they don't. The majority are bothered by the breaking of gender norms. We saw the same thing with the bunny girl outfit being made unisex. They use the idea of immersion to hide their prejudice.
Oh dear! I really hope that isn't true ... Prejudice isn't cool at all! ;w;For me, it's because the OP made this thread because they dislike the idea of men in dresses. I wish people could be honest with their intentions from now on instead of hiding behind masks.
At this point, now I'm just confused at this entire thread. Brb, I need a hot cocoa @w@
