The reason you're not seeing a "compelling argument" is that the whole argument boils down to a disagreement over where the line is drawn about what control we have over our characters.
If you disagree then no argument can be made to sound compelling.
And I disagree that giving up on continuing the argument means there's inherently no merit to the case - there are only so many times both sides can repeat the exact same arguments without budging, and people are already remarking about how both sides are keeping on going.
It shouldn't have to be a staring match where both sides keep going until one gets tired and the other "wins". Especially over an internet argument about a feature that doesn't even exist.
