Reading some of the responses here, it sounds like some players are reaching for reasons why their preferred pick didn't win.

I personally voted for Astrid, so did my husband, because we came to the same conclusion: hers made the most sense.

    • Rodrigalt suggests take time to know yourself. NPC says they don't have much in the way of free time and loves their work greatly. Rodrigault disregards the NPC's lifestyle/choice.
    • Bert suggests a change of profession. NPC, again, says they don't have much in the way of free time and loves their work greatly. Bert disregards the NPC's lifestyle/choice.
    • Astrid suggests finding someone within the same profession (unlike some people's posts, I did not read to hit on employers or co-workers, as that is equally terrible advise in real life, but at least it did not go against the known details of the NPC).

Imagine going to school for a career you love, but it takes up most of your time. You love your work and you know it. It gives you fulfillment. You still want to find a companion and seek advise. Adviser tells you to quit your job and do something else. That's terrible advice, especially with how evanescent relationships can be. Even fictional, I wouldn't give that kind of counselling to anyone.

That'd be a fair compromise.

Additionally, we should have had the option to flirt with Ywain ourselves if we wished to. Being complimented in such a way by the saviour of the world would have done wonders for the guy's confidence even if he wasn't interested in returning the feelings.
I don't know how they would do that though, people had already decided they would vote for Astrid when the event was announced and before even seeing the quest or her advice. If they'd put her up against say, Khloe and T'Kebbe, I doubt Astrid would have even gotten any votes. Even though I don't really care for any of these characters there will always be a cuter one.

I don't know about our character flirting with Ywain, that feels a little condescending (and apparently he stank too) but I would have liked to see the quest play out with the one I picked so I agree.

In the end it's just a cute little event so I doubt they expected this much response to it, maybe they'll take it into consideration for the future.

Not gonna lie. If a five minute quest has everyone up in arms just because a elf girl won, I hope i can vote for her next year.

Feel like you might want to re-read the quest text lol, Astrid suggested he try to find someone among his client list, i.e the people that pay him. We saw how well that went down when he actually followed her advice and continuing could have cost him that job he loves so much if he gets a bad rep among those clients.

This is also kinda a misreading issue, Bert and Rodrigalt's suggestions aren't to quit his job, they're that he needs work-life balance. Which is what any decent counsellor would advise if you told them that your entire waking life is dedicated to your job and you have no space for anything else in your life lol.

The completed quest log doesn't give the dialogues, only an overview of the quests. If you've found them, though, I'd love a posting of them to re-read them, especially since my husband and I both didn't pick up on that if it's true. Yes, Rodrigault's overall advise is work-life balance, but then suggests doing it in a way that the NPC already said he had little to none of (taking time to figure out what he wants). Again, try telling someone that in reality - a job has demands and if you're unwilling to make sacrifices for it, especially for one you love, often times, you'll see yourself lose said job. It's still absolutely terrible advise.

Astrid gives him what he wants.
Bert and Rodriguez what he needs.

I don't see it. Leaving your job and pursuing a hobby or career that you might not even be good with, let alone sustain yourself with, doesn't sound like a need to me. It sounds like a gamble and for something that may not even work out.

Since when does picking up a hobby mean you had to quit your job? I know plenty of employed gamers....

They should've put Aymeric and Hien instead of unknown guys. Things would look different.
