Event did not fail.
It is actually a success.
People will now take this more seriously instead of just skip skip and skip
I welcome this type of quest in the future, maybe in the MSQ in the future.

I'm not sure why you think the same people who didn't bother to read the event text would, at all, care about the result. People who didn't take it seriously aren't suddenly going to take it more seriously after this minor happening, if anything, the only thing this serves to do is annoy people who do take these things seriously.

Let's say for the future reference, S/E put this system into MSQ with 3 different Glamour sets in 3 different route.
Would you still say people is not going to read it?
This case is fundamentally different from that hypothetical. Even if you argue a simple dye-able recolor is a totally different glamour set, the fact remains that a lot of people just went "eeeeeh I wanted red" or, even better, just went straight for the closest quest giver to hand in. This isn't even a dig at how the event is structured like how a lot of the thread seems to focus on, since all I care about was how all three options fucking sucked in the end. But people who know it sucks are the people that cared about the event to begin with, the ones who took it seriously. A lot of people didn't, don't, and won't take it seriously. This is a simple non-important seasonal event, which is a totally different beast from the MSQ.
Even then, the MSQ would be a lot harder to pull off since you'd both be holding up the entire game's population for a single majority vote, and they're also... y'know... mandatory. Of course people are much more likely to read the thing they have to do rather than the thing they can do, especially when the latter was for a simple outfit(that, imo, isn't even that good on either gender in any colour.)
