Go roulette: adventurer in need tank.
Tank queues 20 minutes
Healer queues instant.

So they'll think that everyone's always put up with boring as hell gameplay.
Damage numbers? They've been content to keep them the same (or higher, in AST's case) since 5.0 dropped
So now it's wait to level 70 to be able to unlock the only fun healer? Better than 90, at least.
I'm not going to sit by and pretend that everything's hunky dorey when the only fun healer content is Savage and Ultimate.
The "wait and see" argument as a whole I find has its goal posts shift every time a goalpost is hit. I expect that the devs have a certain number of resources and have their priorities on what they spend it on and I'd mind less waiting if I knew where we stood and whether these will actually be addressed. So just a wait, rather than a wait and see, waiting is less of a problem, sure it's not ideal, but I accept that things don't happen overnight. This is the real issue with the wait and see future changes crowd, Why should it take 80 levels for you to feel invested or having fun in any any job let alone 90.
Does not matter if they change how content interacts for healers in 5.2, 6.0, X.X what have you, they need to improve the experience throughout from ARR to ShB else it will remain harder to keep fresh healers invested and if veteran healers keep getting turned off with how content currently is designed it only lead to a healer shortage.
Something will give, either the playerbase will just give up or the devs actually do something more likely the former but waiting and seeing just doesn't help anymore.
And what you've mentioned was one of the issues I had when the "wait and see" crowd stated their case after the media tour when the changes were revealed. "Maybe they're balanced around the difficulty of the new content" and I was like "if that's the case, content for levels 1 to 70 will be still be boring as heck".
I've just leveled PLD to 80 and it makes me kinda sad. Because I remember how PLD used to be in ARR. It was a 1...2...3 rotation that basically fulfilled the minimum requirements for a tank and most of its abilities were damage mitigation. It was a good tank for people new to tanking because it could take hits like a boss, but could get boring to play because it was a 1...2...3 rotation, which can be a be 'meh'. And now, PLD has a DPS rotation that's on par with a proper DPS job that flows and is really well designed IMO and feels varied because your rotations are made up of multiple parts and you weave in your tank abilities. It feels like healers how healers have evolved has been the reverse of Paladin. Paladin has gone from a tank I'm "meh, it's not that bad once you get it to level cap" to something I'm having a lot of fun with.
And like healers, a Paladin doesn't have to have a good DPS rotation to fulfill its role. 2.0 PLD is testament to that. It's also testament that when you've got a big gap when you can only DPS a poor DPS rotation can make it boring as heck to play. Its evolution demonstrates how much a good rotation can make a job fun to play. Or at least, "stuff to do in our downtime", because tanks by design only weave tank skills and healers by design are getting to be more like that with healing spells for the majority of content.

I really don't understand this. Tank is always adventurer in need while I get near dps like queues as tank lately. Healer is almost always instant queue. Feels like it's rigged towards tanks, although I guess it's probably to do with what I've unlocked for that roulette. Still doesn't seem right to me.

Yeah pretty much! Unfortunately devs already mentioned they're pretty content with how healers play at the moment, boring as fuck for sure but gets you through content but aint so broken that its high on their priority list on things that need fixing, so yeah we arent seeing shit till next expac. IF we'll see any noticeable change till next expac. If they're satisfied with how healers play nowadays and how many people is playing healers, so they'll just double down that "pure healer" design. I wouldn't be surprised if they take off fairy from SCH, the cards from AST and lillies from WHM just to let them be "perfectly balanced".Yeah pretty much! Alas, I think they really hate healers. Last night I was trying to do my roulettes to earn some tomes to equip myself. Just to see the adventurer in need changing from healer to tank without even closing the duty finder window. And when I enter as a tank, it have a DPS like queue, while when I enter as a healer, the queue is almost always intant. That adventurer in need bonus is rigged towards tanks.
Yeah, queue overall is pretty janky right now as well, patch dull period, also doesnt help gunbreaker shot up to be one of the most popular jobs in ffxiv. But yeah if it gets to a point where little to no one is queuing as heal then they'll pretty much have to figure something out before an expac, would prolly be a bandaid fix though. Other than heal dps, they could actually focus on their niche instead, ast card, sch fairy, whm lilies, build up on that stuff at least. Pretty much why im enjoying ast of all the heals atm, cards kinda fill in some of the boring down time, so yeah id be down with them improving those aspects and losing out on dps.IF we'll see any noticeable change till next expac. How is SCH's niche the fairy. Like, I guess I get it, we have a totem that we can place and it sorta helps us heal but its not exactly a key part of our gameplay. Fairy Gauge barely matters as it is and we could essentially get the fairy skills as regular skills and SCH would not be different gameplay wise from any of the other healers. (Well maybe we'd have less delay on those fairy abilities)
Truly, the only exclusively unique thing that SCH can do that the other two healers can't do are Chain Stratagem, Recitation and Deployment Tactics.
I'd say what made SCH unique were her debuffs. Virus, Eye for and Eye and Chain Stratagem. And I think its a part of its identity that has been forgotten.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
