This sounds like non-sense.
"Unfinished"? I what way? What you call "unfinished", be it genders or hair or head gear, is literally a design choice that resulted in a compromise to stay true to their vision for these races. They never said that all head gear or hairs would ever work for Viera.

I see your argument, and I raise you this thought: releasing two extremely limited races, one more limited than the other, is a terrible design choice.

Literally every single other race in the game has more options available to them than Hrothgar and Viera. Hrothgar and Viera character customizability is objectively worse than every other race in the game. They have fewer hairstyles, fewer hats, and they don't even have their own unique hempen set. One less racial set than every other race in the game is imo, tiny compared to the rest, but it adds up. Without even adding the real nonsense that is charging Hrothgar $10 every time they want a new 'do, AND without counting the lack of a second gender option for either race.

They've said this is the last time they plan to add new races, and MAN did they do a half of a job of it. Which is really a shame, because I absolutely love the way Viera look... but I like having options more.

No they didn't do a half job. They aren't finished yet with them. We will get more choices/options but we will not get what the other races have given the design of the races which actually makes them special in my view. I love my Viera and I wouldn't give them up and I personally am very happy they decided to give us the races to begin with.

I do think however the dev team should at the least be making sure all new items work with the new races even if it means designing something additional for them. The Valentines Set is a perfect example.

I also think they need to seriously comment on the status of additional hair choices etc as opposed to keeping the community in the dark. We should have at least an eta of when to expect something new at this point. I think most expected to be getting something new by 5.2 and that doesn't appear to be the case.

I worked so hard to get the eureka elemental armor helmet and viera cant even wear it after 5.2 Im unsubbing til things change.

That's exactly my point though. They aren't finished. SE released two unfinished races, one of which has what is imo a fundamental design flaw in that Hrothgar can't even change their hairstyle at all without paying for a fantasia. Unless they change that, or add significantly more racially unique customization to them than any other race has, they will never have the same level of customization as everyone else. Their limitations, imo, don't make them special. They make them limited.

If we had more feedback on what SE's plans are, on when we might be seeing something resembling an update, or even a reassurance that they'll eventually have at least the same general number of options that every other race has, I'd be a lot less unhappy. But we don't. We've got zip beyond a "yeah we're working on adding hairstyles but it probably won't be all of them so just hang on please." And that is supremely disappointing.

And to be clear, I'll say again, that I love Viera! If they were finished, they would be my favorite race in the game. I love their look, I love their animations, and I even love their height - which is wild because in every game I've played before I've hated being tall! But I got irritated being stuck swapping between the 3-4 hairstyles I like, and tired of being disappointed every time I saw a new hat with a cool looking icon that was surprise of surprises, completely invisible on me. So I went back to Miqo'te. And here I'll probably stay until/unless they give us a whole lot more than what we've got right now.

Be happy they released them. The amount of work needed for these two is pretty obvious. Head gear isn't done and most won't ever be done. Relative to design choices I don't see those as a problem. It's easy to say they are bad choices but sorry I think the choices were needed and are fine. It makes them different then just oookie cutting the existing races. That would have been easier I suppose but certainly not making them special.

Relative to changes I can't disagree that the changes for Hrothgar shouldn't require a fantasia and I think SE should enable more choices without paying. Personally I've always felt fantasia should be strictly for race and sex changes. I want a voice change for one of my Viera alts and paying 10 dollars for it isn't something that makes me happy.

The dev team should at the least give the community an ETA for the additions they've promised are coming. I think it's reasonable to say that many are disappointed those promised additions don't appear to be coming with 5.2. I know I am.

in addition new releases need to have a Viera and Hrothgar counterpart. That isn't acceptable in my view and needs to stop.

I get where you're coming from, and I respect that, but I just can't make myself be happy with them releasing an unfinished product that I personally can't enjoy because of the parts that aren't finished. They clearly had limited resources, I'm not disputing that, but I'd have been much happier if they'd waited until they had a complete product to release them, OR if they were at least much more open in communicating what they are working on and in providing updates on what we can and should expect at the end of the day.

If they wanted them to be unique or special, they should've given them unique customization options. They didn't give them anything that every other race doesn't already have - every race has unique hairstyles, every race has a unique feature of some kind. The only thing they have that the other races don't is less options. And body fur and an arched back for Hrothgar, I guess. If they were gonna commit to having them unique though, they should've done that... by giving them more things that nobody else has, instead of just locking them OUT of things everyone else has.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. I hope we get an update soon. For now it's back to swapping between Miqo and Au Ra when I want to change things up for me. /shrug

People wanted Viera so badly becasue of Ivalice and now we have the mess we are in, no male Viera because "lore" which not makes sense since they could make there own Viera liek the other races are also other races bit as FFXIV versions, and now we ended with two unfinished races not all are happy with instead of one full race. Yoshi and his team i want to believe wanted more, but spaghetti code and SE itself as greedy company i blame them for this mess.

I doubt we get any addition to them in the future at all, consdier we not even got much additions with existing races aswell except some hair styles, or mogry station NPC fashion still and continues being genderlocked, so those races were no suprise, ironic on one side since they removed genderlock on Miqo'te and Roegadyn, something that says also as exampel that male Miqo'te not leave there tribe, etc. Was also changed right and worked out? Why not for Viera?
