Anyways why worry about the head gear? Viera’s ears look great! Why cover them?
People wanted Viera so badly becasue of Ivalice and now we have the mess we are in, no male Viera because "lore" which not makes sense since they could make there own Viera liek the other races are also other races bit as FFXIV versions, and now we ended with two unfinished races not all are happy with instead of one full race. Yoshi and his team i want to believe wanted more, but spaghetti code and SE itself as greedy company i blame them for this mess.
I doubt we get any addition to them in the future at all, consdier we not even got much additions with existing races aswell except some hair styles, or mogry station NPC fashion still and continues being genderlocked, so those races were no suprise, ironic on one side since they removed genderlock on Miqo'te and Roegadyn, something that says also as exampel that male Miqo'te not leave there tribe, etc. Was also changed right and worked out? Why not for Viera?
Because the dev team is at their limit, going back and remodeling gear for two new races is a tall order. Remolding headgear for these two is out of the question.People wanted Viera so badly becasue of Ivalice and now we have the mess we are in, no male Viera because "lore" which not makes sense since they could make there own Viera liek the other races are also other races bit as FFXIV versions, and now we ended with two unfinished races not all are happy with instead of one full race. Thought this was pretty clear, considering we didn’t previous primal weapons for GNB and DNC.
Why i blame SE for it, they want to squeeze money out of this and the numbers show its succes, yet they not support them in any way, FFXIV only lifes from its subs and mogry store sells, while Square Enix store sells like the game and Addon themselfs or merchandise goes NOT in the game itself and in other projcet and yes that is normal in some way but not in this amount, a bad company decision hurting players and the employees like Yoshi and his team because of again this greed SE clearly shows, i not blame Yoshis team but SE as said.

Most of us didn't even really expect old gear to be remodeled. We DID expect all new gear post Shadowbringers to be compatible and it's sad that is not. I really wish they'd come out and say what the future holds for sure because it's getting a bit ridiculous with the silence on this issue.
Speaking from general experience and not familiar with FFXIV assets, but I'm relatively certain all the 'new' gear reuses old and existing 3D mesh templates - every piece of headgear (masks, circlets, hats/crowns, closed helms with no moving parts, helms with moveable visors, etc.) simply models over an existing template with unused parts not rendered. Any truly new mesh templates will likely have some allowance for Viera, maybe Hrothgar. Though I suspect the only brand new mesh right now is the Yorha headgear (blindfold/mini cap). Most of us didn't even really expect old gear to be remodeled. Ka-Lian'Tu-Sa on Tonberry, we're always looking for new folk to join!

Very basic shapes might be prebuilt, and the underlying 'bones' that create movement, but beyond that there are unique shapes to every new piece of gear we get. Hems, sleeves, collars, textures, details. They're not going to have made all the possible shapes they could ever use in advance.Speaking from general experience and not familiar with FFXIV assets, but I'm relatively certain all the 'new' gear reuses old and existing 3D mesh templates - every piece of headgear (masks, circlets, hats/crowns, closed helms with no moving parts, helms with moveable visors, etc.) simply models over an existing template with unused parts not rendered.
Edit to add: they're certainly not recycling the position of Miqo'te ears on headgear. The position of ear covers varies wildly and I don't think some of the artists even check against the base model to make sure they would actually fit the size and shape of the ears.
