Viera head gear -_-

I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with regards to older headgear, but the fact that we're not getting any of the new hairstyles or hats is really disappointing me. I'm really close to race changing again because I'm bored of the very limited options.

Eh, doesn't bother me in the slightest, I can understand why it dose others but for me I'm totally fine with it, I miss a grand total of one hat, Matoya's and I'm happy with my hair, I collected all the others when I was a Au Ra for the sake of it but you can only wear one and I'm happy with my one.
As for hats, outside of Matoya's I only wore glasses, so little changed there.
I'd welcome more, but if they announced tomorrow we're never getting more hats and will barely get any hair's if any, I'd be OK with that, if it's the price I'd have to pay for being truly happy with my race choice, I'd happily pay it.

Like it or not this is a design decision. They never intended to go back and make every head gear work for them, they have made their design rules for Viera and Hrothgar very clear.

Except before the races were even released it was stated that they did intend to go back and do so:

It won't be displayed, because those face parts wouldn't work in FFXIV's system if headgear were involved. Even Viera ears would've had to be moved down to where Miqo'te ears are. It would've been meaningless if you couldn't go all-out creating characters from these new races, so we decided that helmets wouldn't be necessary. You can equip them, but they won't be displayed. However, things that replace the head are OK, like the snowman head, fat chocobo head, etc. No glasses. Basically, the default is that it won't be shown, and only things that replace the head are ok. We'll make more things compatible over time, bit by bit, but they won't be compatible at launch.

As an aside I can't help but have this ridiculous concern that with all the players Fantasia'ing back to other races from Viera/Hrothgar, the devs might take it to mean that they aren't nearly as popular as other races and not bother to waste time/resources on fixing these issues. Probably not the case, just a little nagging feeling I have...

Nah, I dont think we have to worry about that my man. I'd like to think they expected negative reception, obviously not many people would like or be ok with No/Limited head options. But they addressed the Headgear Situation already as you have posted. And they have addressed the Hairstyle situation a long time ago.
There are people like myself that love the new races, and will be patient and await the coming additions. I LOVE my Hrothgar Alt, will be very exciting when new stuff is patched in

Devs took it upon themselves to bang out that work load on their own free time behind his back. That is why on release they had glasses and such. Yay, the devs made "500+ head gears work" that were planned to be worked on and released later.

That is over. They did what that quote said they were gonna do but instead of "lil by lil" it was banged out for release without him knowing.

You can believe they will slide in 6 months from now to make random SB/ HW/ ARR/ AF and so on hats work if you want, I believe you will be disappointed. The items that do work all follow a pretty damn clear pattern that they have stuck with on recent releases.

Same here though not only the lack on helms or certain hats for hrothgar but hair styles also makes me sad, i love my hrothgar character so much and i want more styles but the long waiting game is a bit infuriating.
