Does WoW have a faster pace than FFXIV?

It depends on the class and the spec build you're using.

Classes like Warlock and hunter pick up endgame and the reasoning for the being fewer buttons is so they're situational , so while you have a rotation it can and will change for varying situations. So if its mindless its either early game or not paying attention to anything endgame. The mindless aspect can be and is used by many people who dont put effort into FF as well

From an Ex wow player who switched to FF.

I had just hard checked it, even on high lvl of plays for example tank monk is using same 4 skills over and over, the distribution is really bad and biggest APM source is few skills. Gunbreaker for the fact or DRK both have a lot more skills that are making bigger % in total CPM.
