I'm sure that's not the case for many who do correct, but it's always my first thought :X
So I sometimes use he to refer to someone online, like on reflex. I have literally gotten into huge arguments with them and some random dude. The worst are those "husband and wife" couples in-game, the "husband" comes in and starts "protecting" her. I'm just over here like..

There are definitely conversations where it may be relevant to correct the other person, but it's almost always first thought when I see that:X
I think I did that exactly once - back when I was playing a male character and had this very unpleasent replacement-co-tank for our weekly Coil-raid. For T3 everyone in the group who could would change to a tank, so we were able to just run through, ignoring all the mobs etc. The best tank-gear most people who werent a tank-main had was the armor from LT - the WoL-set.
My Co-tank made a comment about how "gay" it looked and how REAL MEN like him and me would never wear it!
So... I changed into my WoL-armor and told him "I'm not a guy" - I think he actually made a comment about how he had never met a girl who played a tank almost as good as him aswell... could have been almost a compliment - hadnt I been the better tank in the first place.
    One of my fondest memories...

(Other than that I never cared about it - I might react slower when refered to as "he" because it takes me a second to realise "oh, you meant ME, sure, sure, sorry!" but I never correct them - even now, playing as a female character, I sometimes get refered to as "he")

There are no females on the internet. The moment someone logs into the internet they automatically become a male. Knowing this scientific fact would make online interactions a lot easier.

Playing a female as male is absolutely fine, but many create their weird Barbie dolls and that is strange in my opinion - especially that they often overdo it have an according behaviour. Actual women tend to dress themselves with (more) taste because they are female and can more relate other than a guy that might want to create a puppet for his fantasies.... Can't put my finger on it, but it has a weird vibe to me.

I am a male in real life, I enjoy my gender; my Lalafell is male too and I have no problem staring at Sam Fisher's rear when I play Splinter Cell etc. I do love to play as Morgana in LoL though. Very much even...

So I will always be assumed to be an actual woman. Woo who. Gotta change that. *strips her down and makes her look as scantly clad as possible*

Now I am a man, without any doubt whatsoever.

This actually sounds like a fun game. Get a group of ~20 people or so and let us guess what they are.

I let ones guess all time what I am. All tell them love dresses and cute glamour. I don't like scantly outfits or seeing ones wearing nothing. My character is about same size as I am in real life.

Just tell the people who are triggered that it is worst to be triggered by the person being triggered.

That usually shuts up You-tube people at least...

From my experience, gay people usually plays male characters in 99% of cases.
You play a character you find attractive, simple.

PC culture is making this far more complicated than it needs to be. If you want me to address you by the proper pronoun(s), then I strongly suggest you play the appropriate sex. That's my $.02

I remember reading an article about 'is she a he?' And it brought up some interesting statistics that seem to make sense. Things like the rate that female avatars jump and spam abilities outside of combat being far more attributed to rl males than females. What rl females seem to excel at are the amount of emojis used during chat which is overwhelmingly in their favor, and also... correct grammar. They are FAR more likely to correct someone's grammar, comment about it, and making sure their own responses are correct. Guys don't care about this, like at all lol.

Gawd, I wish I could find it as I would like to source it. However, it didn't mention anything about attributing scantily clad female avatars being played mostly by males. A fit female body is well... pretty freakin awesome to look at. And in a world where everyone is super fit, they are kind of going to be all over the place.

Mine does the same, we're 5 men, 1 non-binary, and 2 women. Of the guys, 3 play female characters, 2 play male, and both women play female. I used to switch race and gender every few months.

We just... call each other by our character names... nothing weird about that.
