If SE's banning dataminers, can they finally go after RMT in PF?

Just in case anyone is unaware - SE's stance, historically, has been that they will not accept any form of evidence outside of the game. Screenshots, videos, social media accounts - all of that would not be considered valid.

SE recently superseded this rule, identifying dataminers by their social media accounts and taking action against their respective Square Enix accounts. (I guess it's a good thing those twitter accounts didn't post any screenshots of someone else's character..?)

Well, anyways. Does this mean we can do something about all the RMT mercenaries in PF now, finally? Or more specifically, that GMs can stop ignoring reports about it and properly investigate them?

The bans likely have a lot to do with the death threats related to the world first clear for the newest Ultimate than anything else. I doubt SE is going to start revamping their approach to everything.

The hell? Death Threats? Sounds like SE should be doing more than just banning if they have identified these accounts.

It's sad and equally terrifying that the same kind of people capable of stabbing and killing over a chicken sandwich are playing our lovely mmo.

I just had a healer who teleported into first boss in dungeon and killed it in 1 second and it has been made possible thanks to last patch changes or something like that.

So in response to threats, they act in favor of the clearly unhinged individual(s) and promote that as a functional method of communication?

To be fair, we don't know what evidence they used for this situation. There may have been a link posted in game from the individuals that connected the game accounts to outside sources. It's a bit different if someone ties themselves to an outside source from in game vs someone outside of the game claiming to be them.

It wasn't the dataminers making the death threats. Their accounts were not actioned for making death threats. They're just who SE decided to go after, apparently.

Well it was accounts of characters shown on those social media accounts that got the suspension email.

Also, the people advertising their RMT stuff in PF tie themselves pretty directly to the sales. All you have to do is click the discord link or DM their discord account to get their prices. All the GMs would have to do is follow the link and ask "How much?". I'd bet it would be far less work than SE's sting on the dataminers.

I have a feeling some of them are getting banned I’ve blacklisted a few but new ones come up advertising for the same group, a bit annoying cause I have to keep blacklisting advertisers from the same group in order to clear up my PF

...I hope so, and they're not just cycling alts to avoid blacklists and such.
