Well thank god it's going to happen eventually. Way to go SE, you might actually see all of your cities being populated instead of just 1.

Wonderful news!
Maybe have an instanced AH area where you can buy something from another city and pay an extra "teleport" fee for the NPC to hand deliver it to you in the instance. Good for removing more gil from the system, which i hear is important for whatever reason.
Really looking forward to the thematic justification behind that.
And no, I'm not just being bitter - prefer them separate though I may personally, I'll get by - I really am interested to see how they justify it against the setting.
They just better bloody well had make a go of justifying the cities all linking to the same market space across massive distances, is all. It'd just be .. well, lazy, and a bit jerk-ish when it comes to being nice to players are actually here for the sense of a world more than a game.
Seriously though, a market space linked between all cities by some means despite the distances. How cool is that concept when you imagine it? Some kind of magical space? A floating trade platform they all airship link to?
Just.. you know, don't make it an enclosed room with either no mention of why all the cities go there, or some cheap little hand-wave to fob us off.

Here's hoping they increase the retainer limit again. ALL of Selbina's wards have been full (except some stalls) whenever I checked in the past two days, and yes, I checked ALL of the wards. If they merge them, then I won't be able to sell anything anywhere.
Anima aetherytes and teleportation would actually be capable of making it all work. I mentioned earlier that, outside of the trade aspects, there isn't much good to having separate markets...Really looking forward to the thematic justification behind that.

I remember suggesting it way back in this thread
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...e-Economically
even when you try to be objective and unbiased.. ultimately there is more enjoyment for the players when the markets are linked.
Oh I'm sure it would, I just hope the new area is actually built around that concept of a place that's somehow connected to multiple places on a continent at once..
Rather than say, just a re-use of the Ul'dah market ward skin with nothing more than a 'Meh, you used an aetheryte or something' from an NPC on the door.
It's an opportunity to create a really interesting environment - and wasting that opportunity'd be somewhat insulting in a way, especially (though not solely) to the people aren't completely comfortable with the all-cities-ward idea.

It kind of reminds me of the postal service... you know...Really looking forward to the thematic justification behind that.

But a more accurate variation, with some technology updated to speed things up, is to say it's like the internet.
In all seriousness, there were long distant trade and purchases even in mid-evil times.
The only difference is how they speed this up, for our convenience.
