Ishgard Firmament- Didn't get to Participate

I didnt had the chance yet to see a FATE there, so maybe someone here can enlighten me what the big deal about them is...? From what I've gathered so far they give a lot of exp (...uninteresting for someone with all crafts at 80 - and not even that impressive for someone who doesnt, considering how easy it is to level crafters) and 500 of those scrips. But... that cant be it, right? Because neither of those rewards seem to be worth all this fuss, at least not to me.

Don't forget that this was largely aimed at casual and non-crafters. If you're level 20 you're getting a measly 5 scrips per turn-in. 500 is a ton to them.

Even spending my first day leveling my 70's it took me half a day of gathering and crafting to earn a bit more than 500.
