I realized none of the FFXIV races appeal to me, anyone else?

I'd have to agree on some aspects-- the character customization is crazy limited which is sad. I really dislike all of the anime hairs, there is a lack of actual good-looking hairstyles in this game.
The characters have no real skin depth other than a plain skin color. Like a mannequin that has yet to have the fine, finished details. The characters in FFXIV look very bland unless you use mods that enhance skin textures.
There is No natural blushing, no natural freckles, no blemishes or anything that gives the character actual depth and skin color is more than just 1 shade/ tint. Sure, you can choose ONE of the above options, but only one. Sorry, you can't have a scar and eyeshadow. The Viera actually have some of the better qualities, natural highlight, etc where every other race does not.

The make-up/ face-paint.... Why can we only apply ONE of this? What if I want blush AND freckles AND face paint?
I'm not too worried about having a copy-cat/ clone of my Miqo because most Miqo & Au Ra players have terrible fashion and choose between 1-2 faces- they have pitch black hair or white anime hair & wear something hipster/ Nier/ all black with black lipstick and glasses. If anything, they're copy cats of one another.

I do wish there were more in-depth options towards the character creator. Why can't Miqo's have striped or spotted ears/ tails? Why is it Au Ra faces have to have character locked horns to that face? I like 1 set of horns but hate the face and want to swap.
Another thing, why is there a chest/ muscle slider but not a Butt slider? I would play a FemRoe in a heartbeat if she had some THASS like the Viera.

Why are the color swatches so limited? Instead of having preset colors for hairs/ make-up etc. Why can't we have just a color wheel that's more diverse?
Hrothgar make me sad. I was hoping we'd get actual Ronso like from FFX. They're tall, athletic, long tails & have a beautiful appeal -- not hunched over fat Gorilla's like in this FFXIV. Their face & hair options are even worse being incredibly limited. I understand Yoshi P said at some point, Viera and Hrothgar will be getting more cosmetic updates-- so here's to hoping you can have less limited options. And no more hunched over Hrothgar.

My main is a hyur, but I got one alt for each gender and race.

Alts are definitely the way to go for me. I feel like I have two mains right now and I love them both, but I have several others who are at least level 30 so I can do events on them for cosmetics when I feel like leveling them.

The thought of losing any of my characters by using a fantasia (and then having to pay even more to change their name to fit their new race) is very upsetting to me. I'd much rather make a new alt when I want a new character.

Console limitations, server limitations, small indie company etc. etc. please understand.
They don't seem to be planning on adding anything new to it either, coming from the answers they've given about more customization options. They can't or else the servers will implode, so I really hope they just rework everything and make it work.

Alts suck, too much grind to level up and play proper content, and too expensive to pay for a skip. ARR takes too long even if you skip through everything. Plus most outfits are character only, achievements, mounts, etc.

I agree, I was going to reply saying something along the lines of this but you said it for me, but I have something to add to this.

I wear the chocobo mask almost 24/7 (minus one week were I had a proper FF RDM glamour), and it took me about 35 hours of racing and breeding to get it, and that was with stat bonuses I got from buying feed with my MGP, it would likely take even longer without the feed. This is just another layer of bs I’d not have to deal with if I saved for a Fantasia.

It’s important to remember that time is sometimes more valuable than money.

Aye, truth be told I didn't think that sort of comment would pop up either. Anyways, while I am personally all for Femroes I can understand why ya wouldn't be into'em. Best of luck finding the right race for you, though to be honest your current Mi'Qote is pretty well made.

It's sorely needed. The state of some of the character models is utterly abysmal. I don't doubt that Highlander men would be a much more popular option if they were able to avoid the 'same face' issue and/or had access to authentic eyebrows. Furthermore, WoW is actually expanding its character customisation for the second time. It already updated the character models a while back and has now made it clear that they'll be adding more customisation options over time. I have zero interest in WoW itself these days but I hope it causes FFXIV's development team to finally expand the character customisation to account for more than just new hairstyles.

I don't disagree, but I don't have faith that the dev will see it that way.

Then again, maybe the news of an Xbox release in the work and the coming of next gen console from both Sony and Microsoft next year would produce result, not just in character customization, but also further visual improvement in general.

Yeah I made an alt and had the same thoughts just too much effort with outfits being character only and what not or only being the Mogstation per 1 character and not on the alt just the main.
