Personal Interests: My interests may vary from day to day but originally it themes of watching competitive games I'm not really good at. Just talking to my friends on discord since they are spread out across data centers, reading theories/lore be it game or real life event and staying in my zen mode (or my protective bubble if that is what you would prefer to call it. :x)
Play schedule: My time is flexible since I am a caretaker from my parents. I'm available when I'm not too exhausted to be awake. Standard? Around Noon+ Central US time.
What kind of gamer are you: I'm a casual gamer. Would like to get into hardcore content but lack of knowledge is my downfall since getting into anything is proving difficult. :x
Character Gender: Main - Male Miqo'te / Alt Hrothgar
Do you care if the player in real life is not the same gender as their character? Not really. Looking for friends initially. While my time on the game is lack I would enjoy friends on discord! ^^ also if you think you may want more? I'm Pansexual.. so I'm open to everyone.
Character Race: Miqo'te/Hrothgar atm. Although I have been Lalafells as well.
Preferred Race: For friends it doesn't matter, although if swinging for something more serious? I prefer miqo'tes of both genders. :3
Main class?: 450 Samurai main / 74 Warrior Alt - I'm pretty behind in content since I'm pretty casual but willing to learn more content if dragged along! <3
Dislikes: I don't think I dislike much? Just be a decent human being.
Goals for the game: Have stable playing partner(s) and if more happens.. yay.
Goals for the marriage union: IF something more comes from anything would like to be able to do more than just a game romance.

If your avatar is current, you're playing a female character, while looking for something serious with a real female. This is detrimental to you and it's time to make a choice. I think that there is the biggest drawback.

FFXIV isn't the only place I'm looking. Don't assume I would limit myself that much.

I'd be glad to use my Male avatar if "eye candy" truly is the answer here. But my main really is my main, and there is a reason she is who she is and looks the way she does. But I also don't expect anyone to fully understand that.

It truly confuses me why so many people seem to rely solely on this thread when it comes to finding your special someone.
Instead of sitting here in this thread and hoping for your true love to show up, you could also try approaching people in the game.
A simple "Hey, I like your glam..." will do the trick to start a conversation with someone.
But yeah, just like Rasikko said, having an female character while looking for a real female isn't ideal. After all, your special someone would also like to see some eye candy

With the exception of the idealistic beginning statement because game or not avatars do matter. Game life unfortunately mimics real life and its not just 'some' its the majority. Racism, exclusion, sexism, ageism, etc. all still exist in the game and all you have to do is try to find a bond partner as a Roe or try to join certain fcs and see the chats and discords or sit in Limsa for a while to see what I'm talking about. Hell just look up a bit in the posts to see all the people who only want to 'date' certain races. (I mean it's the same as saying "It's all about the personality" when no one sees the personality at first sight let's just be real. Personality most likely seals the deal but just like a car it's the initial look of it that peaks your interest, the interior and performance is what seals the deal. That said, the rest of the above quote is spot on!

Trust me. I get it. I have a FC. Not many people are active in it. brynhildr is weird. people don't join FCs they make MINI Fcs with their little cliques. I wanted a FC for all, And I mean the beginners, the mid core, the casual and a static. A place I can have a few fun activities for everyone to enjoy sometimes. A place where they can actually see some things we just take for granted and not stop and check out like going through dungeons unsynced to see the actual dungeon we run through at the speed of light. to have meet and greets, to have contests and surprises. It's not going to happen in Brynhildr most likely but I have great friends, wonderful neighbors and we run stuff together. I see the lala FCs and the Miqo'te FCs all over as well. that are only wanted their own races in it. Maybe for RP I can see something like that to stick to clans but on a regular basis, I am not so sure why it happens.

I see all these posts with their ideal partner based off looks. Yeah the profile has more information in it but its so funny yet sad that its usually something general stated vs specific races they list.

I see LOTS of ageism. I am not young. People find out I am female and about how old I am and they "joke" and call me a MILF. They don't even know if I ERP or not. They don't know what kind of game player I am. They don't even know me. But I guess some people think the way they think because of their environment.

I have been playing for many years. Most people I meet in game and then we kind of migrate to Discord and remain friends there even if one of us moves to another world or data center. Some of my best friends at one point were Roe. The would play pranks on people in Limsa and get people to laugh. And what they did only works with the bigger races. They are/were the coolest people. I am a lala. At least at the moment. I have been for months. I doubt I will change any time soon. I'm loving this lil bad azz chick taking out the "improbable." with her lil wobble of a walk and high pitch voice looking cute and innocent with a touch of flair to her.

If I go back to Vierra its because She has an appeal and yet her freckles makes her not that sexy look that everyone wants at the playboy mansion. I have my fun with changing races. Sometimes in the story line they say something like "long time no see, something's different about you" and I am thinking umm yeah. I changed my hair color yeah yeah..that's it... you shouldn't even recognize me since I changed races unless you can see my aether. haha"

And the Roe, they are large and in charge in my book. This Miqo'te is sleek and graceful of a cat that I admire. The intellectual Elvens stand tall. Just to name a few. I see all the races as something special. I don't have a preference on who hangs out with me. I don't have a preference on the shade of skin people choose for such races. Some do. As for the game, The warrior of light is not race specific. it is given to randoms to protect and save those who are weaker than him or herself. Its a gift and a curse.

People choose their looks for a reason. male, female, race, to fit a part. well, some do. depends on if you are doing it for the story line or for other reasons.

And yes, I have had m fair share of creepiness and being ditched by people I considered my friends. My umm.."thing" is, how people treat others and how they treat me if they will be a long standing friend. I am pretty laid back, funny and I have a thick skin but some things, I just won't tolerate.

I am one of those few you speak of. I am female. They aren't as rare as you think. There aren't as many as men, True. And there will be less and less if people don't start treating people decently. The ones who stick around like me, we just learned to survive and stay hidden. Play in the same safe crowds so the game is played how it was meant to be. it is sad some people are just straight up creepy. stalking others, lying, ghosting, making new discords and characters just to talk to others.

People have no clue who they are talking to, who they are segregating against when they say they only want a specific race. There are some wonderful people out there of all races, genders and skin tones. Some save your toons life everyday in game. But they don't seem to mind them doing that.

I know people who are bullied every day IRL at work and in school and just in life, who come here to be a hero and make real friends.

I know guys who play bad azz females who raid do static and aren't elitists. Who help anyone in need. (freaking lost my ending to this thread so I am winging it. thanks crome.)

You never know who is going to come across your path. Yoshi P made this game to everyone to enjoy who wants to enjoy it. It was not made to be a chore or a place to segregate. it was a place for fantasy and adventure, working as a team and enjoying the creativity of the story, graphics and each other.

You never know who you are missing out on as a friend or even more if you close off others because they decided to be a certain race or has to be a certain gender. in game or IRL.

I have to get back to work. it's not exactly what i said but well I am sure when the time comes, I will be saying more. Hopefully this opens up people's minds and hearts a little and remember what people are about. what FFXIV is about and maybe how to treat everyone a little better. We all have room for improvement.

Wow, this thread got serious since I was last here, lol. Not going to add my 2 cents since I have no idea what's going on so without further ado....

Made a character on Aether to be my new main since I don't want to spend money on a transfer. So I'm making a new (and better) post!

Server: Sargatanas

Willing to transfer? No! Unless transfers are free and my 90 preferred server days are up, then yes I will transfer within Aether only.

Personal Interests: Obviously gaming. The common things like music, anime. I also love nature, animals in general and morbid things (to an extent).

Play schedule: It varies. Usually anywhere from 9:00am to 2:00am until I find a new job.

What kind of gamer are you: Midcore? I play often and like raiding but I don't do Savage or anything (yet)

While it did go above and beyond the point, it all makes perfect sense.

As for Afyde....Everything you said was spot on. But you don't need me to tell you that. We all play this game for our own reasons, and we all choose our avatars for one reason or another. I've seen you on Mori go from Hyur to Viera, and now to Lala. To me....Mori will always be Mori. Snow went from a Hyur to a Catboi. Yet he still sits on that plateau in the Steppe....still watching and waiting. Sometimes the avatar is a reflection of ourselves.....of our strengths, our goals and desires. And sometimes it's things that make us happy, make others happy, or reflect the kind of person we aspire to be or the things we, as game characters, aspire to achieve in this world we have created. Raynstorme, for example....she was created to join a friend from Grade School in a new game, but her look and her "personality".....they are based on something I had dreamed, and something I aspired to have.....a partner in this fictional world. I always say, "In the end, when everything goes to hell, and no one else will stand with me, Rayn will be there." I'm not saying this is physically what I am looking for in a partner, that would be shallow. This is only a reflection of a person in my head....and the dream associated with it. It's the reason I refuse to ever fantasia her....why she will never change gender or race.....why she will always be, more or less, the way she is for the rest of time. I know people reading this probably are not going to understand that.....but it's ok. I understand it. And that's enough.

Define "social". Some people are naturally socially awkward. I literally had someone out of the blue message me today. I said "Hi", and got no response after that. Not sure what that's all about, but ya gotta understand, sometimes the first conversation with someone is gonna start out really really slow. It doesn't mean there isn't the potential for deep and meaningful conversation, it just means "Hey, I just met you, so let me get a bit more comfortable."

I mean, you take that any way you want.
