I had a tank pull 3 waves when at the spawn I told them i just cleared story with an alt in AF gear and less than 430 in spots and couldn't handle it and guess what they proceeded to pulled 3 waves. We wiped so that tank did their thing regardless. I have no problem with large pulls when geared and can reliably heal it and keep the tank up.

Skill levels and gear equipped vastly differ. If that isn't something you can deal with, then don't queue via duty finder.
Only some early ARR dungeons do this, up to around Copperbell Hard. The reason why this was changed was likely because it was easy to exploit with mass pulls.Ignoring the usual of people throwing sh!t at each other: Does anyone know if it has always been normal that mobs in dungeons turn invincible and (try to) return to their starting position - like in open world - after they got dragged a certain distance by wall-to-wall/large pulls? I noticed it a couple of times in lower-ARR dungeons since 5.1, but can't remember it in HW dungeons when other tanks did it.
Oof. Every time someone does this while I'm healing, I have a bit of a mini rant in front of the computer screen.I don't mind big pulls if the tank isn't squishy and the healer's competent. Where I get annoyed is when a tank gives visual cues saying that they're stopping the pull at a specific mob, and then they decide like 5 seconds later to run off and pull another mob that's rather far away.
My buffs and job gauge don't last forever, guys.
My general checklist for tanking and how much to pull goes like this:
1. Is my gear good enough to mass pull?
2. Is the healer's gear good enough to mass pull?
3. Adjust as necessary. (i.e. wipes, CD availability, MP struggles, DPS not using AoEs)
Sometimes this means I pull literally everything; other times, it has me doing single pulls, unless there's a lone mob that I might as well grab in the process since one more won't make a difference. Either way: the best tanks consider the entire party and their ability, not just themselves, and that's something that just isn't guaranteed with every group, much as I and everyone else wish it was.

I feel like I may do this lol. As a WAR, I sometimes will stop on a medium sized group I've gathered to apply Storms Eye before grabbing the rest. Sorry!I don't mind big pulls if the tank isn't squishy and the healer's competent. If it's to cast an ability for whatever reason, then you're forgiven. However, I see tanks of all shapes and sizes doing it, so sometimes I can't help but think that it isn't always necessary.
Just do it when youve grabbed everything or stop there. 3 GCDs is going to make everyone pop their cooldowns because it looks like youve stopped.
When i'm tanking i'll start with a single pull or sometimes a double depending on the dungeon. Just to see see what the healer does. If my hp drops to dangerous levels and I have to start using cooldowns, i'll maintain that pace throughout the dungeon. If my hp stays high i'll pull more. If a dps doesn't like my pace and starts pulling ahead of me, I let them tank whatever they pulled until they die. If the healer starts healing the dps wannabetank i'll let them know what's up. The dps usually learns their lesson pretty quick.

1) you should be using cooldowns to start with. holdimg defensives until your health dips low is a waste of them. When i'm tanking i'll start with a single pull or sometimes a double depending on the dungeon. 2) no healer who knows what theyre doing is going to keep you constantly topped off. They're going to let you dip low so they can dps and then heal you up as needed.
3) your test pull should always be large because everyones cooldowns are available at the start.
Some tanks ask me if i want big pulls when i'm healer.
Some don't
Some do big pulls
Some don't
i might fall asleep while small pulls but i won't force uncomfortable tanks to do big pulls. Especially in leveling content.
But my main healer is whm... please pull big when i'm a whm, i need to holy, please.
