I think you're kinda answering your own question. If you read the description in the Trust system its says you are fighting with Avatars of trusted allies, or something to that effect. The system is quite similar to XI's but because of how XIV is, it functions a bit differently. Basically, they are only available in the dungeons not the overworld.

This mirrors what I was about to say. But I don't think Haurchefant would work as well seeing as how he would only be available for that one instance. Additionally, what would their jobs be? Retroactively making HW Alphinaud a Trust, would probably have him with the same job, maybe. Estinien would be a Dragoon, and Haurchefant would be a "knight" so Gladiator. But what about Ysayle, I mean what would fit her, "Primal" lol.
