I don't know why they took the name Trust from FFXI if they weren't planning to add NPCs like Haurchefant, they should've just expanded squadrons or given us nameless goons if they weren't going to expand it to all the fan favorites. Trust magic in FFXI is about summoning alter egos of people you've built strong bonds with to fight alongside you. It probably could've been explained in FFXIV as being similar to how the Exarch summoned the scions.

So if Thancred dies in 6.0 they should delete him from the Trust system? And it's already conflicting to have to run dungeons over and over with them to level them up, just how many times does that lightwarden need to die? "Oh, Urianger killed him 10 times but now Alphinaud needs to do it, wait why are we doing this in groups of 4 anyway?" The system is already at odds with the story in a crummy way, so it might as well also be at odds with the story in a fun way.
