Now if only they made the dungeons give out Tomestones of Poetics to ensure people can get the lvl 50/60/70 gear and get it upgraded to meet the ilvl requirements.

Oh hey, that poster looks familiar. Here ya go.
Note that that post is comparing i270 and i285, so obviously the difference between 270 and 273 is going to be even less.
But pretty much yeah. People like to cite the huge defense values of SB without realizing that even 200 defense was only worth a little over 1% due to how the stats scaled in the back-end. It's the same way you can have 4000 crit and still only have the same 20-some odd crt% you did two expansions ago.
Abania was always trivially easy to do in 270 if both the tank & the healer were skilled. Heck, even as Maria pointed out a few pages ago in this thread I elected not to upgrade much gear on the way to 70 due to using HoH until 69 at which point Abania is faster exp wise.& because I knew she was healing me and not some DF healer. I never even came close to death outside of one or two TB's from the final boss where all I had was Heart of Stone and nothing else. (Seriously, the rate at which things die due to our increased damage output means half the threats of pre-SHB Abania are nullified.) Skill has always played the largest factor in how well tanks survive in those dungeons, gear just helps mitigate any differences in player skill.
Also funnily enough, as I mentioned in the old thread, a tank in i270 at the time using full-time tank stance would be sturdier than a synced tank not using it. So if the i270 gear ever bothered those people, they should have also been immediately bothered if those better geared tanks ever dropped tank stance for even a second.

You can realistically wear Aug 70 stuff until you hit the upgrades at 77/78.Actually the jump from 270 to 273 gear is pretty significant, it's around +200 defence for a tank, something along those lines.

Its not like SB was where you hit Bardams and if the tank is still wearing Aug shire, you wanted to throw them off a cliff due to the armor and vit difference.
Yeah, skilled tanks arent the ones running around in last expansions gear in SB when you're forced to take 2 full leftside upgrades through the MSQ by that point.Abania was always trivially easy to do in 270 if both the tank & the healer were skilled.

Poetics fly at you at a breakneck speed. I was constantly capping while leveling.
Pretty much agreed, the defense gain is nothing in ShB like it was in SB.You can realistically wear Aug 70 stuff until you hit the upgrades at 77/78.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
They are if they don't have any poetics because they spent it all getting augmented shire and they're leveling their GNB alts After having levelled their main to 80 in SHB, having long since passed the SB MSQ, meaning MSQ gear isn't an option
Also I wouldn't really call any tank going through the MSQ the first time an 'skilled', given how they're new.

SE is finally telling players "We expect you to do a bare minimum of effort," and the players that need to hear that are crying foul.
Ironic.
This is a great start, but can they like do this for the ARR dungeons too? I mean, a drk cosplaying in 11 DoM gear is not uncommon to see in totorak and sometimes in stone vigil too...

Ewwwwwww, it's all glowwy again!
They still fail the DPS check at i460 lol.
All dungeons should just give guaranteed gear drops. Or do they? Not really sure XD

They do and with 5.1, even the weapons.
Spam each 12-13 times and be fully geared.
Only folks like me would do that.
