See that's the problem. It depends on the person. Some players are going to go for the easiest mode right away. They're going to increase the gap in difficulty between solo and group content, which will make them less prepared. They're going to say the group content is too difficult and should also have multiple modes. Or outright call for nerfs. Already many do call out for nerfs just because they wipe a few times on the likes of Nidhogg or Shinryu.

This change is bad. Very bad.
I highly doubt the dev team will ever implement such an option in group content. Solo instances are one thing since they don't teach you at all how to play the game and are more for giving the story active setpieces rather than cutscenes, but group content like dungeons and trials are meant to have some measure of difficulty since you need to rely on your party to succeed. Throwing in a difficulty selection for those duties would completely undermine that aspect.
