Welp, this shit’s going nowhere. I’m out.
By the way. In my opinion, this shouldn’t be such a huge issue.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I liked the dragon ball example..
that is all
Oh boy guys we got the in current year person! Also, saying that homogenized countries don't have to care about woke culture is not controversial. They simply don't care. Neither does any African country, fyi. As for colonization of Africa and genocide, excuse me, but are trying to suggest that every white person needs to be held guilty over something that happened well over a hundred years ago? I am going to go laugh in the corner bc my white part of my family had nothing to do with the Scamble for Africa, thanks. But sure let's use that as propaganda against a Japanese company.
Anyone who gets their jimmies rustled cuz of skin color are dumb, but do not act as if it isn't a hell a lot more common that you ppl are often way more upset on a frequent basis. I see all sorts of rabid witch hunts bc a character was drawn a shade too light. Does anyone remember Baltheir? Ya, you had better draw him 5 shades darker than his actual model or might offend someone leading to a literal witch hunt. Any of you play Dragon Age? Better make sure if you draw Fenris his skin tone is closer to a chocolate bar than his actual skin color of a slightly tan even though honestly he's paler than most Europeans. Same thing happening here. And quite frankly, Nier's art style holds NO racial characteristics. I see 2P as white. You can argue all day long she isn't, but you are not anymore right than me bc you say so.
The best part is, you guys are projecting onto a company full of non caucasians. A culture that sees skin color different than the western world. Hate to break it to you but the skin color that they use to popularly depict light skin tone has little to do with race. Its why Japanese people look 'white' in anime. It's also why all of Doma is whiter than me. But totally 2P having lighter skin totally has to do with western concept of race. Bc the whole world follows the same rules /sarcasm.
You might think your woke, but uh forcing western standards and concepts of race on a Japanese company is arrogant as hell. But you know, complain about colonialism and while simultaneously push your standards on a different culture. Double standards. Ooo I love em.

Imagine trying to argue that a character is 'tan' as opposed to brown, as if tanned people don't appear as a shade of brown.
Anyways, let's see how it turns out when patch drops and if it is indeed been 'whitewashed' then it is what it is. Up to this point '2P' has been nothing but a 2B colour variant, so if the designers want to take that inspiration and change a few things around then that's their choice.
It takes less than thirty seconds to make a post in the vast majority of cases. The perfect activity to indulge in when browsing the site on a commute to work or during a lunch break. It's also five thousand posts over the course of six years, which isn't even that high a number.
It seems you're running out of material.
That's just SE being truthful to their "Character Creator vs Ingame" potato lighting.
Jokes aside we gotta remember that regardless of how the community feels about it, any changes have to go through Yoko Taro's eyes first and get his approval. If 2P ends up lighter than what people are used to, it's more than likely intentional on his part and the way he wants her to be canon in the universe.
If she was already an estabilished character beforehand, then yeah, I'd be iffy about the sudden change. But wasn't she just a fanmade character because of Soul Calibur?
Not only that but that render is clearly tonemaped and with a lot of HDR. Her hair is almost blue.
I'm going to throw it out there, but fair skin for centuries in Japan has been considered a sign of beauty, I think we are talking as far back at 10th century AD. If I were to hazard a guess, if it was an artist deliberately doing it, I don't think the intention is racially motivated or an attempt to white wash a character. Japanese characters are so often depicted by the Japanese as having fairer skin than Japanese people tend to in the real world. It could well be because of this cultural difference.
The difference is one is temporary and induced by the sun, the other is not. When some people try to insinuate it is about race, the distinction also becomes more relevant to point out, since obviously getting a tan (or removing it) does not change that. Then, there is the fact that this is an android.

Spot on.
