The issue for a lot of people is how skill bloated it is and how it basically requires macros in order to get HQ reliably at end game. It's well past due for an overhaul and with the cross class going away it might get people to level a crafter for the beast tribe rewards at least or at minimum make it less intimidating for newer players.
Yeah. I've always thought that crafting was just complex for the sake of being complex. Personally, I don't really like that, but I understand that others do. I'm glad that they are making all these changes though. The issue for a lot of people is how skill bloated it is and how it basically requires macros in order to get HQ reliably at end game. This confuses me. I can't reliably get HQ unless I react appropriately to each Good or Excellent status, which a macro can't do, since there are no conditional statements such as (If Status = Good, do Tricks of the Trade.."
Basically what people are shooting for, is that at a certain threshold of Craftmanship and Control, a Macro will HQ a craft almost regardless of what conditions.
For myself, it takes at least 2 poor conditions at this point for me to fail a craft. Even getting a poor condition on brygots doesn't instantly fail me.
At a certain stat level (achievable with materia and/or food) it's possible to ensure a 100% HQ rate all the time by savagely overshooting the quality requirements for the item with a macro. A fully melded crafter can do it with all NQ materials with a couple of macros.
Honestly I don't see that as a real problem either. It's GOOD to get better at something the more gear/stats you get.
Now if you want to make the case that SE could introduce crafts where the requirements are so high that it can't possibly be done with a macro (because it requires using those condition procs) at 100% then ok, you can make that case. But that's not how crafting works now and it really never has. Sufficient gear will always make you better at this.
