Uptime won’t change anything it will just make more people us to pld. Requiscat lining up to will just hurt the burst tanks more by making them having to delay bursts and lose overall uses as in the fight. You shouldn't have reasons to force groups to pick WAR over the other tanks. We had six years of that.
The tanks are at a point where even relatively minor changes will have a big impact on balance. The easiest way to buff WAR's dps relative to the other tanks is to drop off the fight uptime. That's the reason why WAR/DRK are on the lower end of the dps scale (albeit not by much). Burst favours lower uptime conditions.
Fight uptime =/= melee uptime. Lyth means making the boss go outright untargetable more frequently. Burst classes indeed benefit more from these fights since their bursts are coming off CD during the downtimes. Imagine a fight where the boss goes untargettable for 30sec after every 60sec of uptime, with Inner Release being 90sec CD it essentially cancels 1/3rd of its CD since the WAR still spends the exact same amount of GCDs in Inner Release and only loses weak 'filler" GCDs with very low value. Everybody gets affected by this but classes with the biggest burst steroïds benefit the most out of this since most of their DPS comes from their burst periods. A more sustained class will lose a lot more since its DPS is more spread out accross its entire uptime, thus every GCD has more value, making the loss of uptime have a greater impact on DPS.
I don't know if that's clear, I'm pretty bad at explaining this and english isn't my native language. But we've seen this in the past in Thordan EX, WAR's DPS was off the charts because there was a lot of downtime and it perfectly lined up for WAR's Berserk CD. Encounter design can definitely affect the DPS charts without having to touch the classes themselves.
This is correct and well explained. You actually see this dps effect partially in E1S, where the boss does a long intermission animation in order to give players time to refill their coffees.
The changes to cooldown durations probably have something to do with ultimate, but I wish that they'd just remove invulns altogether.
