I'm happy with crafting as it is. On FFXI the crafting was much harder and it was awful. I would not want to see that in FFXIV. Honestly, I don't see a point in dividing crafting into casual and hardcore. Well, other than for some to make more gil than others by selling "hardcore" crafts. I very much prefer crafting to stay inclusive rather than exclusive.

If you are annoyed with some of the skills and think they make crafting too easy, don't use them. Then you can make it harder for yourself without ruining crafting for others.

That’s like saying you have a pair of legs, if you want to make walking harder, just walk on one leg! Sorry, but intentionally inconveniencing myself just because you say so is just silly. Also, they said they will be nerfing crafting actions.

By the way, if we are following your logic, they shouldn’t have a savage or harder tier of raiding because you feel that everyone deserves to feel special. That, quite frankly, is just ridiculous. :P

There's so many contradictions in this.

You're happy with crafting being casual only. You don't see a point in making it so both casual and hardcore players can enjoy it because you're happy. Then you say you want crafting to be inclusive rather than exclusive... as long as it excludes the hardcore playerbase. (By hardcore I mean people who enjoy a little effort, not no-lifers). We're talking giving hardcore players a small handful of endgame items and casual crafters literally every other craft in the game and that's still unfair to you?

Also it's a big misunderstanding that "hardcore" crafts will let players make tons of gil while the casual players scrape pennies. It's never been a worse time to be a casual crafter to make gil right now. Everything from 1-80 2 star is far cheaper. Facet gear is worthless and the markets are flooded with competition. White DoL/DoH gear was worth more in SB than endgame gear is now, even into 4.1 when it wasn't relevant. Casual players wanted a slice of that sweet endgame gear gil-cake, but there's 10000 of them and one cake, so they all get a few crumbs each now.
Meanwhile the big crafters are raking in gil through mass Reuse and playing the markets instead. The rich players will be richer no matter how much you simplify things.

This generally isn't what hardcore means. Redefining it to sound less damning is kind of disingenuous.

In basically every game, there are self imposed challenges by those who feel the base content isn't challenging enough for them. These are generally where speedruns are born from, level 1 modes, no gear runs, etc. You need only look at a singular game franchise like Dark Souls to see the lengths people go to, by -actively removing their own options- to increase the challenge of the game.

No gear, level 1, no dodge, no sprint, no parry runs.

Even in this game, there are currently self imposed challenges for the savage tiers that people have created that are -theoretically- survivable, for those who have already done their speed runs and are looking for something more.

This doesn't accomplish anything though because part of the crafting mini-game is playing the markets and selling stuff. You can't make that harder since no one else plays by these random arbitrary rules. That Facet set you limited yourself making will still sell for a fraction of what it would in Stormblood, and especially Heavensward. It wasn't like crafting was Gordias levels in Stormblood either. It just wasn't laughably easy like Shadowbringers has reduced it to.
