The same people clamoring "did you even read? o.O" are the same damn people who AREN'T READING. You want to heal more? THEN TELL ALL THE SNOWFLAKES TO STOP MAKING THIS GAME SO DAMN EASY

That's the problem. Then what happens is you get lazy arse healers, who think the game is a cakewalk going into savage. THEN get mad when they get facerolled by content they have no idea how to play. THEN come in here complaining that there is no healers in content because its hard. HUH? are YOU actually reading? Game design is why you aren't healing...something people need to acknowledge.
Mind telling me what snowflakes you are even talking about?
Because the people here on the forum are not asking for simplification nor do I hear complains about savage content being too hard. The only thing that was brought up recently regarding difficulty is the question wether the dps check on Voidwalker is too tight or not with the vast majority thinking that it is not. The topic about the lack of healers for E4S was because many healers quit their job after the ShB changes.
So I have honestly no idea what complaining snowflakes you are talking about.

I am reading but I still think you don't quite get the point most (ex) healer mains here make:
they want to heal but the content isn't designed in a way that asks for a lot of healing, including most savage fights. Nobody denied that this is a content problem and a lot of people here explicitely stated that they would prefer more outgoing damage in general and more randomness to it so you can't push your oGCDs like a clockwork to deal with the majority of it while you keep spamming Glare/ Broil/ malefic.
Just because it's a content problem doesn't make our concern invalid.
No matter what the reason for it is, the point still stands that healers have a lot of downtime with precious little to occupy it. Both in casual and endgame content.

Im not sure what you are saying? If this game gets harder its going to get toxic? I'm not asking for harder savage content. Im asking for harder normal content. Have you been to Eureka? The regular mobs there are about what the difficulty should be IMO (minus all the elemental stuff)

I know healers are twiddling their thumbs in dungeons, but that is bad content design.
Which means that it's a total design fail like the bow-mage, and birthed ranger trolls. It's not unfun as not as satisfying or rewarding to play or manipulate and abuse various things. And, bewilderment as to current design changes overall with several feeling really out of touch

FPS games are both notoriously toxic and elitist environments as they are super easy to play and improve (low skill floor = less difficulty) to higher skill levels and doing lots of amazing feats (high skill ceiling = heights of player ability within a given game). The "casual" being a particular strawman that you just like totally invoked. And, the current AST is simpler, requires a lot more to upkeep with a lot less time to do it, and has very little depth than the previous version, but is way easier to get to it's maximum potential, for example.

Platformers like MMZ are notoriously hard and have a niche fanbases that rarely break into the Mainstream in comparison to the more casual friendly genres like FPS and block/stack puzzlers, and, like, a lot of ppl do play this game while watching netflix which is just totes impossible for me and I don't know how they do it

I'm actually fairly in line with OP and I have a feeling people who share that opinion are keeping quiet because of the force of the "but I'm bored" responses here.

I was a healer main from late stage ARR, but I switched to DPS after taking a break in SB because when I came back everyone had slid into the expectation of everyone knowing what they were doing and being completely overgeared in the levelling dungeons and as a healer with at-level crafted&quest gear I absolutely could not keep up with the large pulls and communicating that "new healer, low gear" only worked some of the time, other times it got me yelled at or group kicked.

That said, I was used to healing the big pulls in ARR and HW (though I still occasionally got the tank who thought they could do things they could not, it was rare I couldn't handle it), but I had never fallen behind in gear level nor had I ever had to experience the dungeons as someone new at a point when the rest of the community already had them memorized, so I knew what my issues were and didn't so much blame the big pulls as realize the way the game works. And I had no desire whatsoever to put up with that ever again, and the fix (to not heal) seemed simple enough. Because of the experience I had, I prefer the small pulls, and I always comm tanks who do them (especially when the tanks themselves are clearly new and have realized their limitations), but I never expect them.

Now I have levelled all the healer jobs in ShB, and I actually don't mind the changes much, but I did my healers with trusts and with people I know. Those people I know do always do the big pulls, but they're in voice and warn me if they don't have all their cooldowns up so I can be ready to use mine, etc., and I don't find healing big pulls with people I know to be a problem at all. But the experiences with random tanks are, just that, random, and I don't enjoy that, so I don't heal for pick-ups anymore. I feel like that's less a complaint than a recognition of my own preferences. I'd rather sit through dps queues when my friends aren't around than not know in advance what I'm going to get from my group.

I use to be a healer all the way to when shadowbringers came out not anymore sold all my healers gear or traded it in for fc credits. Because of what they did to them. Unless they change ast. and scholar back not playing one again. I will just stick with machinist and red mage as a main jobs.

If this is what you got out of all of this I'm going to assume you don't actually understand anything about what the problem is.

We don't need backseat advice from someone like that.

I totally agree. Unfortunately SE disagrees. They took away things like Protect/Eye for an Eye/Celestial Opposition/Time Dilation. They don't want us doing anything but pressing the heal button or the DPS button.

You know nothing of the issue at hand. The issue at hand is because very little of the content in this game is genuinely threatening outside of savage, and even then you have obscene downtime. You can, and will, spend most of your time pressing one button, and another every thirty seconds. That's not interesting gameplay. People are mad because the gameplay isn't interesting whatsoever.

We want to heal, have very little to heal, and we want interesting DPS kits to compensate for FFXIV's game design.

Correction. They want us primarily pressing the heal buttons and only sporadically pressing the DPS button but refuse to design content where the former is ever needed since it might be too hard.

I'm fine with wall to wall pulling but only IF the tank ask before hand. If they just start doing it then I enjoy letting them sit at the edge of death and even letting them die once.

Personally, wall-to-wall pulling I assume by default. If they pull smaller, I won't say anything, it's just boring and I pretty much never have to heal the tank with GCDs until I'm out of oGCDs. If the tank isn't geared, I always expect to have to pull the extra weight because naturally blaming priority is always healer > tank > enemy > DPS.

As for it affecting the healer population, it's just natural selection at that point.
