What do you mean? I don't think they provide live translation if it's held in Japan regardless if it's at an event or their office, exceptions being for things like Q&A like the last live letter.

It would be perfect if they at least provided english subs on the live letter. Otherwise, I'll just continue to ignore those letters, since I don't speak japanese and I won't learn it just to understand.

And S-E not caring about me is the norm and I'm sued to it. S-E never held or took part on any event in my country, the nearest server from me is 9k+ kilometers (or 5.6k+ miles) away (which have a heavy impact on latency), there isn't any plans to launch a client translated to my native language, I'm excluded from some contests involving prizes because of where I am. Alas, S-E only remembered that my country exists just to charge more at Steam. And all I wanted is some english subtitles for one piece of content S-E releases in japanese, even he's speaking from France, Germany or US.

Why do I have to depend on fan translations to even know what is happening or have to wait a week to know, just when the discussion is long over? Sure, this game was released by a japanese company, thinking on a japanese audience. But there are players from every corner of the freaking world, not just Japan, even places where Yoshi-P will never set his foot on, like South America or Africa. And what is being told at that moment can change the playing experience from everyone, not just japanese people.

Rewind a few pages and see: Not scripted. Aimi, the usual translator, is around for NA events like E3 and where they have enough time to speak English/JP. She even translated for Nomura during the KH3 ReMind DLC trailer. Please recognize what goes into these thing before a knee jerk reaction.

You have that already in the slides that they showed at the very start of the LL. You have the information there already, so there's no need to take anything away from the rest of us.

The banter that they had on the second half was not heavily scripted. Yes, they have bullet points about what they're going to do and talk on the LL, but most of the second half was dynamic and pure improvisation. And that's what some people want them to translate too, and what makes no sense in this context. The actual patch information was already in english on the slides that they showed right at the beginning. So what, some people are freaking out because the devs had some fun talking in a relaxed way in a local event and they felt left out, despite it being nigh impossible to properly translate it live without affecting the flow for the crowd there?

Look, I agree that they should release the digest faster, as I said, or at least tell us why it always takes this long to have it done (there must be a reason, I guess). But I can't agree with the people demanding them to translate the LL directly in this specific case, or even change/remove the LLs as we know them.

Yes, bullet points are the exact same thing as the reasoning behind them and expanded explanation of what they mean. How could anyone not know that.

I'll say it again, if a group of RPG speedrunners can put together French, Spanish and German re-streams in a 2 week window, and be on a delay of seconds for the entirety of a 3-day event while translating entirely on the fly, one of the largest MMO developers in the world should be able to do the same with a script and slide notes that necessarily had to be done ahead of time, given that they already employ people who do this as their job.

Didn't read the thread, but my 2 cents:

None of the Live Letters are on-the-fly. They have lines and it's rehearsed, if only basically. Even at an event like Tokyo Game Show, I can't see why they can't have subtitles or something for each of the major languages ahead of time. Especially with these special guest interviews - it's basically telling everyone that isn't Japanese to just turn off the screen and go read the unofficial translations (which can contain errors and whatnot because of the nature of on-the-fly translating).

What exactly is being taken away when this live letter was mostly **redacted** until the second half, leaving everything to guesswork, akin to the interviews done with Japanese game media outlets? Very few things got clarity and the only takeaway is that Yoko Taro is a creature that we must protect at all costs.

So, let us not cling to Taro, Saito and Okabe's sense of humor to mark an exception. They are fully aware that the community does most of the translation and they are making the most of that, just like with a lot of other things in the game.

Also, Taaro knows he's got western fans quite well. Will add anyone who friends him on Facebook. It's not even a business facebook either. And yet Grimoire Noir- to my knowledge, was never translated officially. Nor the VERY IMPORTANT CD dramas, YorHa stage plays and Automate Orchestra content. All of which are canon and vital to many aspects to the story.

Aimi-san, who has been acting as the translator on the previous LLs that weren't done from a japanese event, is not a community member.

And about the other stuff, what did you want, the full patch notes already? They have been announcing patches like this for years, and it works. At least they show us what's about to come ahead of time in a more personal way, unlike other MMO devs, and we always get the provisional patch notes ahead of the actual patch. Also, and this is what I was talking about, many of us enjoy the more relaxed vibe and the conversations that they have outside of the scripted things -which is not something specific to Taro, Saito and Okabe-, which would be lost if they did what you asked for (which is exactly what I quoted from your other post, where you said that you would rather have a "Nintendo Direct"-like format than the current one). In fact, when the LL gets translated on site, part of that gets lost already due to the lack of flow and the less improvisation. We reached a compromise already, but apparently that's not enough for some.
