    You realize that outside of the original ARR (which was several years ago now), they don't actually allow any of us to beta test anything, right? Square keeps everything in-house until it's eventual release; which, frankly, acts against them more times than naught because they get no useful feedback on what it is they're doing.

    As for who i was talking about, i was talking about myself (as if it wasn't obvious by what you quoted). It has become ludicrously easy to craft things into HQ from zero HQ mats if you keep your gear up to date; especially within end bit of Stormblood and all of Shadowbringers that i've done. If they are just making it easier to get INTO crafting, then sure, that's great; but they're not, they're doing a whole revamp that is going to affect would-be crafters and people who have spent a lot of time in crafting already.

    That's encouraging, but i'm still going to be skeptical until we actually see what they've done. There's been too many times where the dev team has wanted to do something, but it falls flat of what they wanted to do because they're only ever internally happy; as they never let people see what they do until they've gone and done it and then they spend the next three patches chasing to fix something.

    I like the crafting system as it currently is, but the thing with skills...not so much. So I'm probably not gonna like this tree business, but whatever, I didn't ask for that, yall did.

    Very easy. You can currently craft 2 star from NQ mats, with vendor food and no tea, without paying a gil for materia, within a few days of hitting level 80. I'd be happy to share the rotation and meld set. It's never been easier than this.

    That said, I'm not complaining yet. I'll wait and see for more precise details. If they're making leveling smoother and don't touch endgame (besides adding new challenges), it's something. We'll see.

    By 5.5 crafting will be:
    Pick the item you want to craft > press 1 button > get HQ item.

    I wonder what else they gonna ruin in upcoming patches by simplifying/casualising to no end.
    Savage and ultimates by greatly turning down the difficulty?
    PvP by removing even more skills?
    Melee classes maybe?

    It depends. If they make the 1-50 leveling process easier. It's whatever. That entry gate is a little annoying for newbie crafters. If they make the actual rotations at max level easier or make abilities more overpowered. That's where complaints will come in hard as it kind of stomps all over the crafter end game. Maybe Ishgard Restoration will be "harder" but I'd be shocked considering they want it to be accessible for everyone. Not to mention, Yoshida likes to overhype difficulty. I'll never forget when he warned tanks about pulling too much in Xelphatol, arguably the easiest dungeon in the whole expansion at the time.

    I can HQ every item currently in the game with zero HQ mats and no overmelds higher than grade IV with nearly 100% efficiency. It doesn't take much above that to guarantee it or you make one HQ mat like Dwarven Cotton and bam.

    I'd be very happy to see some consolidation of crafting abilities. I have four hotbars for them, currently VERY full. The worst part is that I only use a small handful of crafting actions but there are so damn many of them at this point I've basically just lost the will to try to pare them down and figure out which ones are useless. I'm just drowning in buttons, most of them useless.

    As to the other thing, I don't mind necessarily being able to HQ things with NQ mats. I think that's a good reward for putting in the time to perfect your gear and melds. I don't necessarily buy that someone can do that with no overmeld above grade 4, vendor food, no syrup.. that claim seems fishy to me just because of the stats I needed in order to make that happen. But someone who has taken the time and effort to do their melds.. sure.

    You shouldn't have to spend millions of gil overmelding in order to make something. That's been and insane part of the game since HW.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
