in wow you must sometimes jump to move forward in dungeon or raid, also some hurtful abilities can be dodged by jumping. jumping s important and can add dept to combat. embrace it or go back to bed.WTF am I reading
Those are the basics of an RPG, thanks, but have you ever seen a special role playing in Jumping until now on a turn-based/real-time RPG like the Final Fantasy series? (WoW, Aion, Rift and sh*t too)
It all depends on how they want to implement it at the end. If there's a point on jumping on a mount (even if seeing Goobbues jumping could be a lil' disturbing) then it might be implemented. If that's just for fun I think it's just waste of time since Jumping is not required for an RPG to have an important role.
But hey, I can be impressed if they actually give a good role into jumping =)

Ugh... I'm really sorry, I've started the post so bad, I didn't want to make it like that, guess I was pretty tired when I wrote that =)
Anyway! It basically depends on the RPG we're playing. In some, jump is needed and in some not. I just can't see now a good use of the Jump thing other than screwing around with it, that's all. Still though, we'll see when they're gonna revamp the maps, maybe jumping will be helpful. We'll see =)
p.s. again, sorry for that, was very childish.
Yeah let's just shit on half the playerbase with bad connections and continue to add positional and reaction based content that kills them all the time.
Hell nobody at all can rely on "Timing" as it stands and it will probably continue to be a issue of some sort even in 2.0

oh please it is 2012 now. everyone have access to at least 24mbit connection now. supposedly lag issues are gong be fixed in 2.0 with new servers and al dat, and if not(witch i believe), then it is Enixsquare's quest to solve it. and if they cant, this game will flop.Yeah let's just shit on half the playerbase with bad connections and continue to add positional and reaction based content that kills them all the time.

Blizzard designed the game to utilize Jump -- Most MMOs do not, they use it as only an animation and like the Goobbue mount, Jump in XIV will just be for fanservice, an animation only.

And how do you know it will only be an animation? Do you work for SE? Did they tell you this personally?
I don't care if they gve us jump for mounts or not, but jump for our actual characters is great. They could add depth to dungeons, instances, and the land itself. YOU might not think it's depth, but I know plenty of people that think it is.
I mean look at Tera and Archeage... You can climb, swim, jump, go through platforms. Why can't XIV have all this? Because it's not Final Fantasy? Why do people say that? Jeeze, people say that about necromancer job too.
Look at the time and age we are in now, and jumping still makes people mad. I don't understand that.

Because unless when they redesign the maps they remove pretty much every invisible wall that still exists and the vertical movement still isn't glitchy (trust me, anyone who's fallen out of the map knows exactly how off the movement is on the z-axis) it won't have a practical use for anything other than to give the people who want Jump the ability to jump.
It's also pretty iffy in Tera, this is why only a few MMOs actually utilize it, because the mechanics aren't the most solid things around.I mean look at Tera and Archeage... You can climb, swim, jump, go through platforms.
I've yet to see anyone say "It's not FF", considering I recall doing all 3 in pretty much every FF game I've played (including XI have some climbing style mechanics even if it was a CG scene.)Because it's not Final Fantasy? Why do people say that?

well arent they redisgning the maps? maybe with jump in mind?Because unless when they redesign the maps they remove pretty much every invisible wall that still exists and the vertical movement still isn't glitchy (trust me, anyone who's fallen out of the map knows exactly how off the movement is on the z-axis) it won't have a practical use for anything other than to give the people who want Jump the ability to jump.

I'm glad they are adding it though. That's all I can say anymore.
