So many threads all basically complaining about the same thing, honestly there's little point in actually having conversations in these redundant threads anymore.

Let's say you have a house but you feel like you need a break from the game for 5 months cuz you've played for years and very heavily.
Well you don't to lose that house.
So in order to have you're plot destroying you can't cancel/suspend game subscription for too long before you have to log in again.
SE definitely knows this. It keeps ppl subscribing so that they can log regularly enough to make sure they don't lose their house. I just resent it and housing demolition because they kinda have us trapped. And especially now with the game's popularity having increase, they should provide even more housing.

I support their "stay active or lose your house" philosophy. If you're not using it, then yes, it should free up for someone else to use.
Yeah but do you see how it benefits them so much and just because they are to lazy and cheap to design a housing system that provides enough housing to everyone. And they really fucked up on Stormblood when more housing was released. Everyone who logged on when the servers came up well if you were fortunate to be a lower number in the queue you could go grab your house whereas those high in the queue couldn't get any housing. People being forced into a flat list when so many were logging on at the same time just condemned some people to not get a house simply because of the logon queue. Not everyone could get in simultanously.

On the same side of the coin, Mateus seems to have 1-2 houses go up every couple of days, so if someone is after one, the opportunities are there. I do think the way the timer works should be redone, but I do not know how to make it more effective and fair.
I guess they figure if you can't bother to log in and step into your house once every 45 days it isn't that important to you. There are certain people I feel bad for, like someone who may get deployed and doesn't have that option. But other than these special cases it's not hard to keep ownership of your house.
