Ishguard housing sounds awesome and I would love to own one. Though i'm not sure how "fair" this will turn out for all players. We have waited a long time for Ishguard housing and I would hate anyone be restricted by aspects of the game they take no interest in. Then there is the problem of the housing wars and high demand. Trying to secure a house if you don't already own one is hell. I would have preferred a tombola raffle then the timer system lol.

The only option that I can see that may work in regards to the housing problems and wars is keeping the housing wards as they are. Adding in different sized apartments (small, Medium, Large). Ok, so you wont have the communal feeling some players want and you cant run FCs from them but for players that just want a place to call home this would be a viable option. With less people feeling the need to buy an estate you would probably see an increase in housing slots. This would also make getting a house in new housing wards somewhat easier.

Also adding things like a balcony (so you can still make use of planting plots) to the medium and large apartments would also be beneficial to the idea. You can have a lot more apartments then ward housing.
I personally wouldn't mind trading in my plot for an apartment if it had the same functionality. I understand though this might take a bit of work and the devs might not be to fond on the idea. Not to mention what affect it will have on the servers.
But I would have like to see them fix the outcry for housing even if just by a little before they throw another set of wards in the mix. This will probably end up like shirogane wars

But at the end of the day what they say is white noise to me...I want to see change not hear about what "possibly" could change. Theres a reason why these threads keep popping up.
You know its funny you'd say that... because I didnt mention all the little things they added over time (due to my own time here being limited... and me typing at 2 in the morning). One thing I failed to mention is the ability to share your personal house with other people. And didnt YOU make a thread about wanting that feature for apartments just a few days ago?
And you wont see change if you decide to ignore all the changes they've put in place - some at our request, I'd like to remind you. People were unhappy with seeing houses beind abbondond and empty because their owners stopped playing months ago, so they asked for a system to get those houses relinquised. People complained about the house-flipping-mafia, so we got the random timer in hopes to ease that a bit. People had issues with one account owning mutliple houses, so they made that more difficult.

I understand your frustration, but lashing out will get you nowhere. Not following the advice the devs themself gave us to communicate problems to them (one megathread) will get you nowhere and certainly wont get your message to them. As it stands all those tiny threads are most likely white noise to them.

I'd also like to mention that one reason those threads are popping up is that people cant be bothered to read the forumguidelines and take a quick look around to post in an existing thread.

In my eyes nothing has changed. Houses still are a pain to get. I started 2 Valentione Events ago and ive yet to notice ANY difference in regards to housing.
Them doing things to "help" doesnt automatically make them good ie..timers. No one likes timers.
Housing as it stands benefits no one except those who already own.
And yes I have made a thread about sharable apartments. I dont understand the relevance though honestly speaking.

So you started mid Stormblood and been playing since the last major housing update. Of course nothing has changed since then. Housing in NA didn't become a big issue until this Spring. Most worlds had some houses to choose from if not a large number.

Here's a question for you. You're on Midgardsormr. It was flooded with housing until the start of this year, when housing everywhere in NA started drying up with influx of new players. A quick pop into the Housing Census thread will show that. Here's a post from last November http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post4819118

So why didn't you buy when you had your choice of hundreds available?

No one liked having to pay several hundred millions of gil (or maybe even real money) to someone so they'd give up a plot they only bought to sell it that way either.
I'm not saying that the current solution is a good one or that it didnt create new problems - but it is a solution to a problem you obviously never experienced.

And to explain the "relevance" here: Houses were not always shareable, that was an addition to the housing-system, something they've changed about it. You claimed that you dont care about the little things they improved in regards to housing, which would include the sharing-feature. Yet... you care about having the same feature applied to apartments - thats not an unreasonable request, though. I just considered a little... hypocrictical to claim that you dont care what they do to improve housing because you still think its not enough and despise the system when, at the same time, they obviously came up with features you like...

Ive been on Midgardsormr for a month. I transferred from Gilgamesh. Tried to get a house when I first got here. Days of no sleep and nothing..

And Vidu (because I dont know how to quote you both) yes I asked for a system that they put into housing to be put into apartment. You fail to understand me though. The fact that its a house feature only kills any importance that it has to me. I dont care that theyve done it for housing because I dont have a house. Does it help? Sure. Does it affect me? No cause I dont own a home.

On each world, why not just remove the 2 apartment buildings for each of the 18 wards on all four housing districts, and just make 1 massive apartment complex set up in well lets say Ishgard, which can be readily purchased by a player having finished all requirements for owning a house/apartment.*

Apartments in this system will offer a more wide vertical and horizintal customizable apartment space having an outdoor instanced balcony (like the one in eulmore upperdeck), which follows in game time and weather, and allows large scale gardening.

The apartment courtyard will be massive (Like that of the wide crystarium open space going to the crystal exarch's occular), with all sorts of npc merchants, mb, and summoning bell, as well as function areas for in game events and player sponsored events.

The housing districts and ward system can still be continued as somewhat a rare resource for those who want to compete for a plot. Hopefully housing districts will also have big improvements to its neighborhood aesthetics.
