2 one-pieces, if we're counting the striped and solid variations (I don't). I'd really like other types of swimsuit on females that aren't a bikini... and the one-piece clips horribly because of the little skirt

If they go ham on one, doesn't the other get shafted?

People usually don't care about this, you see. "I got my candy and want more candies and you should <kupo!> up" kind of logic.

Some bottoms are made with female hips and vagoos to be PG-13 covered and I know for a fact the black coeurl bikini bottoms would be showing a whole lot of groin without edits.

And it wouldn't just be the bottoms, because people would immediately demand the tops, and by immediately I mean now. It wont stop, it'll be asked for during QA threads, it'll be a headache. See Yoshi's face every time someone asks questions like it.
It isn't anywhere near as complicated as people are making it out to be.

Remember that these aren't real articles of clothing. It's not like having to stretch cloth over a body that it wasn't meant for. It's literally just forming the item to all the available player models. It's really not that hard.

As for "it won't stop" yeah... it shouldn't. Just model all visible gear to be usable by all players. This isn't unusual in games with customizable characters.

It's not even as close to as simple as you may think either, see my post on the first page where I go into technical detail on the system Square has setup for this game, there is no base model to form things over.

To make a piece of gear for both genders and all races, they'd have to:

    1) Make it for female Hyur.
    2) Use various racial scaling modifiers to form it to the correct proportions for the rest of the shared body skeletons in the category.
    3) fix weights, scaling issues, etc.
    4) Re-sculpt the piece to fit female lalafell & male lalafell.
    5) repeat #3
    6) Re-sculpt it again to fit male Hyur
    7) Repeat #2 & 3
    8) Re-sculpt it once again for Hrothgar/Roegadyn
    9) repeat #2 & 3
    10) Potentially re-sculpt it once again if the piece requires a different skeleton for Au Ra & Highlander
    11) repeat #2 & 3

Literally in the case of male Hyur ---> Hrothgar/Roegadyn, it is literally like having to stretch cloth over a body it wasn't meant for. And that's just for the modelling. Textures might need modification depending on how the piece itself is affected, since upscaling a piece from the size of a Hyur to a Hrothgar would look terrible and cause pixelation without modification. Then they have to do Q&A, make sure certain attributes are hiding when paired with other pieces of gear, make sure the gear itself is working correctly, repeat #3 again & again till the weights on the piece are correct and working with the physics engine correctly.

    No For lore reasons

No because people who want this jump on other people's threads and make a big deal when they want something

Let's be honest though when it comes to fashion Male gear on Female looks far better than the reverse. Don't ask me why but when it come's to Female gear on a male it just doesn't look right to me. Maybe women are just the superior fashion gender! XD

Some of the responses on this thread.... Yikes. Who knew gender-neutral clothing in a video game was such a horrible, offensive thing to some folks. It's almost as if it would physically hurt someone if it were added lmao

/signed honestly. I'd love to play a male miqo'te but most of the male armour looks horrible compared to the females'. Give me some of the skirts and dresses, please. If you don't like virtual men in dresses just... don't put your virtual man in a dress. It's not like male Viera which would actually be very time-and-resource intensive to make anyway.

I don't eat vegan food but I'm not going around saying 'why even bother having vegan options, restaurants waste resources even offering tofu, vegans are a minority, not many people eat this stuff'. Or maybe Femroes in-game are better comparison. Very few people play them in comparison to, say, female miqo'te but they still model armour for them. Won't kill anyone to have a few more options.
