Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

And...your suggestions are where exactly? Where are anyone's? Save one post offering some ideas of changes and a couple bucking against the narrow minded hivemind the whole thread has been naught but a bandwagon circle jerk of negativity.



imagine waiting for all of SB, being told "we get it DRK is in a bad way but it'd require a full expansion's worth to rework DRK, please be patient" from the dev team...
only to get this uninspired parody of WAR.
you're not alone in feeling 5.0 DRK is lacking, for lack of a better word.



Same ship here, haven’t have time to play some DRK in ShB yet, but I literally drop DRK and change to WAR when SB launch because DA this DA that. Even if the current DRK look like WAR, I still prefer it over DA DA DA DAI share the exact same sentiments. HW Dark Knight was my favorite version of the job. Then SB forced you to rely on Dark Arts too much which led to the job feeling incredibly clunky. While ShB's version of the job isn't like HW, I still find it far better than what we got last expansion. Edge/Flood of Shadow have much more impact personally compared to DAing everything.
It doesn't sucks. I love it more now.It's been on my mind for a bit now, and at the end of the day Im pretty dissatisfied with DRK in ShB. Enough to the point that part of me actually thinks SB DRK with DA spam was better.
At the end of the day, it boils down to DRK just feeling uninspired. I know its a bit of a meme to say Delirium is essentially a reskinned IR, but its kinda true. It feels like that. I dont feel rewarded for spamming 5 BS in a row. Not to rag on Warriors, but if I wanted to do that, Id play warrior. EoS and FoS are just oGCDs that eat up spare mana and its pretty much use it until you have 3k mana OR if you have a nin, just spam it in your TA window. It feels brain dead frankly. Even with SB DRK, you had to manage your Blood, mana, and CDs a bit more, along with managing DA with your other oGCD so you could double weave correctly without clipping and getting as many DAs into BW window. Yeah it was a ton of spam. Yeah at times it was annoying, but current DRK has become so uninspired. bland, and what not that Im just not enjoying it.
Ill say that it could be just fatigue. Ive been playing DRK pretty much since HW and havent focused on any other class or Role (outside of dabbling with monk or bard), but that just highlights how lackluster DRK feels. When I play monk, it feels more rewarding to do things. It feels more complicated and I feel like "Hey, Im actually getting some bang for my buck here." I dont get that with DRK. It's disappointing cause Im a sucker for big swords and that edgy knight. I like the aesthetics of DRK, just it's playstyle is IMO a huge failure for this xpac. It feels like devs phoned this in rather than came up with something thats fun and interesting to play.
It's probably my greatest criticism thus far for the xpac.
Since weve been at this for 2 months, anyone else have this feeling about their class now that weve had time to play it?
TLDR: DRK Rework for ShB feels unrewarding and uninspired. It is functional, but not fun to play. Anyone else have this experience with DRK or another one of their classes?


I don't think anything post HW DRK can outdo it.
Run up, Bloodprice -> Dark Arts -> Abyssal Drain -> repeat step 2 and 3 on large packs. Heh Abyssal Drain itself survived many "changes" but finally got shafted this expansion.
Still, ShB DRK is better than Dark ArtsEverything SB DRK.




Mine are on the first page. It's not the full blown essay about how to improve it but it's there.
About the "narrow minded hivemind", I'm not sure what to tell you. When devs have to look into complaints about gameplay, they are, more or less, looking for that "hivemind" because there's a general consensus about an issue in the game. They can't go into a mob of complaints that haven't reached one or one that seems to be in complete discord. Case in point, SB's general complaints about DRK was DA spam. And lo and behold, the devs did listen. They didn't just remove the spam, they outright deleted DA too. Now the general consensus seems to be that drk plays a bit too much like WAR. Now I know you're on the opposite site of the spectrum but if you can apply some objectivity, you'll see that's true. Now maybe that still makes us the "narrow minded hivemind", that's fine with me. I can personally accept that label if it means that our cohesive, objective complaints can reach SE's ear, rather than a cacophony that really spells out "we actually don't know the general direction drk should take".

I was happy with DRK in SB and this isn't "in hindsight" - I've already been saying back then that the job didn't need a big revamp, just some tweaks and improvements in the direction it was already going, you know, what expansion updates are supposed to do.
Same with WAR btw, only started complaining about it once the 4.2 "fix" happened.
People have already offered tons of feedback and explained in detail what they don't like and how it could be improved, in several threads on the tank forums ever since we got Media Tour info. At certain point you're just tired of constantly repeating yourself.
Also how is it a "circle jerk of negativity" with several people stating they like the new DRK?
DRK is way more fun now.
No more Dark Arts spam, effective and interesting mitigation technique in TBN that feels great to pull off.
No other tank has anything as satisfying as TBN right now.
Living Dead is still a problem, but it always has been.
Personally I think the penalty for not getting healed in Living Dead should just be weakness, as if you died and were raised, but without actually dying and losing aggro.
Maybe tweak Abyssal Drain. Reduce it's cooldown, and change it's HP regen calculation to give more for the first target and have it drop off from there.
