    The thing is, WHM in particular and healers in general are usually heavily associated with priests, who traditionally wear robes. That's the class fantasy, so to speak. There are exceptions of couse, but if you do not want to wear a "dress" as a male, then WHM is probably just not for you aesthetically. And that's where glamours come in.

    Sometimes rumors are just... rumors.

    You can easily make a cleric/priest/bishop/etc robe without making it look like a nun - a specifically female title. The Christmas glamour from 2018, for example. Even the AF1 looks good, tho the low rez is very noticeable imo, and the AF3 being the best option for male WHM.

    A few examples of simple, actually unisex robes;

    Even Raya-O's outfit can be unisex if you take out/shorten the skirt.

    This one isn't simple but badass af, SE plz

    If I'm allowed to be blunt, I think they're intentionally trying to make WHM look kawaii, you don't really see this problem with either SCH or AST, and their themes are literally fairies and stars.

    Also, just my opinion, AST looks better in black anyways, because of stars and tarot and all that.
    There are definitely outfits that aren't white robes - post #37 has a list of a good amount of them. And when we do get white robes, they are usually dyeable.

    Personally I don't see the issue with each class having a theme after which most of the gear is designed. You can choose glamour or non-standard sets to go outside of it, but that doesn't mean the designers should be expected to stop following the theme entirely.

    I do agree AST looks better in black - unfortunately most of my recommendations are robes again! The Battlemage's Robe from Brayflox's Longstop is a fairly good practical-looking one, or up the other end of the leveling scale, the Lv79 dungeon gear is an excellent black-with-yellow-highlights version of the Demon Robe from WoD. (Customise to your taste, of course - I don't like the skirt and sandals either.)

    Though for my male Elezen I'm using the Boulevardier's Shirt combined with the sleeves from the Lv70 job gear, which co-ordinates remarkably well. (pic) No idea if that works well on Hrothgar though.

    Um... male Au Ra do have wide hips. Or rather they have a narrow waist which means relatively wide hips.

    They're definitely an unusual shape, and it makes it hard to find nice glamours for them. (I have an alt and he's definitely a challenge. Things do just fit oddly on them a lot of the time.)

    If you're looking for a formal coat, I will recommend the shared model Plague Bringer's/Doctor's Coat which is a dungeon drop from Arboretum (normal) and Pharos Sirius (hard) for caster/healer, and the Lakeland Coat of Aiming from Holminster Switch. It's one of the few coats I've tried on my alt and thought it looked good on him.

    Not so much priests as wizards, I think - well, WHM specifically has the cleric/priest theme, but mages in general wear robes. It's normal for the fantasy setting, and there's nothing inherently feminine about them except the modern association of them looking like what is now considered female clothing. It wasn't at the time.

    And now you've reminded me how much I want Raya-O's coat!

    Though as I said earlier, the main thing that makes WHM relic gear look "like a nun" is the hood - take that away and I wouldn't associate them at all.
