So.. I would think that it would be cool, if SE can balance this out and allow mage to use active mode in a fight too. (Mage doesn't have much to do in a fight currently.) I can understand that in patch 1.19. SE has an temporary fix for mage to be able to cast spell in passive mode. I think it is good addition, however, I don't think it is good to make "passive mode spell = as strong as = active mode spell" Passive mode suppose to be better in term of "I need as much regen as I can" instead if "this is the only best mode"

It doesn't necessary to be like my idea. But I think some good examples which is make sense and make active mode useful:

"At active mode, mag potency and heal potency become 15% higher"
(Make mage to go active mode before casting spell, and rest in passive mode for mp regen)

    or

"Only at active mode that your weapon status will become useful"
(I think this is very make sense. In most people image, wizard won't have power grant from rod if he just put the rod hang over his back)

    or

"Let phantom dart become mage 's auto-attack"
(I think this is only make sense because mage has TP skill too.)

Please like this thread, if you think that mage 's active mode should be somewhat useful.
    Yes I would love this.

My suggestion is to not have a difference in anything with active and. Passive modes. I think your mp/hp should regenerate when your not auto attacking, using battle commands, or receiving damage.

I think its silly that mages buy staves just to leave them on their back or waist.

    Why
Because not every person is in complete agreement so you'll see comments both for and against pretty much every topic conceivable.

    Wow, mystery solved. -_-

Ah so this is how it works? I thought I just needed to learn how to cast with my weapon instead of just having a fancy back ornament. I manually select active mode to get my staff out during casting and figured it was my error that he was not drawing his weapon on his own, I thought something was being done wrong by me.

One would think that the stave or wand would be used to project the magic if the mage is equipped with one.

This is silly of me but I originally switched to a staff purely because I wanted to see my character do something besides just standing there during his casting. I wanted him to actually use his weapon or move around, anything but standing there unamused or not at least poised to fight.

Well you have my vote for a more 'active' active mode.

I would love to see my mage do something physical while casting and for the weapon to be part of the casting, instead of a separate action that has to be selected. Of course it should be optional because I know there are players out there who do not want to be forced into drawing their weapon with each cast.

I found that it is cumbersome and I still assume that I just need to learn, but reading the posts in this thread from experienced players leads me to think that it is not purely my learning curve suffering me the trouble I am having with weapon use as a mage.

I posted in another thread just a bit ago, with a complaint better suited for this one so my apologies. I agree wholeheartedly with the OP.

    I like these two suggestions.

A lot of the times when I'm soloing on mage I don't go active just because I'm so used to being in passive and when I realize I should utilize my shield, I usually need MP so I just forget about it. Giving mages reasons to go active is a good idea.

Actually, they are already doing this with the Mogwand - the "chance to restore MP" is only active if you are in active mode. I didn't test if it's worth it though, a random chance to restore a certain amount of MP versus a steady MP recovery in passive mode... (Hmmm.)

I figured as much but, the OP's grammar kind of confused me.
