How is there no obvious solution?
The obvious solution is to only award one item per floor per week.
You could roll on all three coffers that drop from E1S, but if you win one of them, you're automatically locked out of the other two.

That could be done easily by communicating, its a well know loot rule in jpn as 取抜, take and leave, people need one by one and after someone get something they leave then the other need the next item piece...
I dont think forcing this rule will be any good, since itll be suck when a static want to coordinate tbe loot to one person(for whatever the reason)

I'm afraid this would never work in the west. We only care about ourselves.

That is a static decision though. Not every group will enforce the same rules. While I would insist DPS are fronted loaded until we clear, plenty of other groups wouldn't care.Honestly even in a static the new system sucks because if you static is actually optimizing... tanks and healers have to wait weeks to lot anything so the dps get everything and make the raid fights easier. Is it better for progression 100% yes, but still would rather have it the other way.
Overall I just think the new system is bad. We already have tokens that was more then enough.
I would never pug in the new system... everyone lots need for everything everytime... that is just garbage.
This causes problems for statics though, especially when you're gearing alts. If the head piece and legs are BiS for one job and no one else. You're essentially forced to give someone a piece they will ultimately throw away in a week or two.

On average you have better odds of getting something overall, it just FEELS worse because you know you could have potentially had anything. I'll take it over seeing endless scouting and casting which I don't play
If you can really win multiple coffers from a single instance in one lockout that does seem like a big oversight.
yea you cant win every item in normal mode, so why can u win every item in savage? surely it is an error

Its the god damn goal to begin with, playing with player having the same mindset, skill level and agreeing in a loot distribution beforehand is how a good group work, working together is the main point of being in a group. Actualy, nothing prevent you to doing so too if you want, looking for player to play with is MMORPG 101.Except they already had an advantage by being able to group with players of a similar skill level who are available to raid at the same time. New loot system adds to it for no reason. (Maybe only BLM and MNK should get buffs next patch?)
It's not just statics that benefit. The archaic loot system (having to clear floors in order every week, reduced coffers if a number of weekly clears are present) is in place to discourage loot selling, but the current system makes it easier than ever to do.
New system does just that. If you had the gil/money, you could be i470 in a week.
And this system is the most fair possible, no matter how you want to put it.
Every player participating in the fight have exactly the same luck of getting a loot. No matter their jobs, their skill, their DpS, their BiS or even the jobs they want to gear.

You can, indeed. Arthars won all three coffers from E1S last week on his alt. My concern is limiting to only one person per week impacts statics, especially if said restriction also includes the upgrade items. If they made it so you could only Need one item per week, and once you won something, you only add the option to Greed. That might be a solution. Lets say you roll Need on everything but won the Ring. Your other two rolls immediately become "Greed" rolls or you're forced to roll on them a second time with Greed/Pass your only options.
This lets statics filter loot as they please but also lets pugs have better chances at obtaining something.

of course there are exceptions to what i said, some statics will seek a balance in the loot system but for the majority of them they will look at the raw value of the dps output and where to max it out.
there is no need of such drastic change, just put it that i or anyone else in the party can drop only 1 piece and give better odds to the entire party for each piece after the firstMake it drop full pieces. If no one can use it, make it so you can then exchange the piece for 1 token or whatever if you win the greed roll. Dropping tokens is a bs concept in itself, not only bc of the "everyone rolls need on everything" issue, but because it just doesn't feel rewarding to collect coupons which a vendor exchanges for the most epic gear in the known universe... somehow. That's not how the skinner box works ^^
going from 12% on the first to to 14% on second piece, to 16% on third up to 20% chances on the last piece... making so that the odds arent always 12% of getting one item.
