Is it me or has the community gotten worse...

I have played this game since 2.0, I have raided hard-core, mid-core, and now casual since I want to take things easy and have fun.
During all that time I have meet with a handful toxic players. Generally in trials and every single time the toxic player was the one doing the most mistakes.

But if someone were to send me a tell harassing me for not having cleared savage yet, I would:
1: Report them.
2: Blacklist them.
And with them obviously being such giant idiots I am sure they would have done the same to many other players, and if most other were to report... I wonder what could possible happen.

The community is just as bad as it always has been, I am of the opinion that this games community is the worst online community out there. It pretends that its so good, so happy and non-toxic, when its actually full of toxicicty in form of casually just hating everyone who comes from some place else, or doesn't like the things the general community likes. And then it gets all high and mighty in "OOOH we are so good, everyone else is shit though, don't come and ruin OUR community with YOUR toxicity."

Nothing is worse than toxic casual who doesn't know how toxic they really are...

Worst thing I've experienced in-game is a DPS telling me not to pull more than one mob if I can't handle it, since I was new to tanking and he was right, I didn't think much of it. While he may have been a little rude about it, I didn't take it as anything more than some harsh criticism. Maybe people just have thin skin these days?? IDK, most of my experiences in game have been good ones.

I can't say if the community has devolved or not. What I can say is that it's just a game, people tend to be keyboard warriors in this day and age because it's easy to be a prick and there is mostly no punishment for it. My advice to anyone would just be to ignore it and don't let some rando internet train-wreck ruin your day because they said something mean.

This is drivel pure and simple. I have played WoW. It is MUCH worse. This community is a gem by comparison.

This is absolutely not true. FFXIV has always been a very pleasant community. I have played WoW in the past it it was a rotten cesspool. People treat each other like garbage over there. I will just keep reporting them if they cross the line.

I've played both and I see no real difference between the communities. Just as there is no difference between LotRO, SWTOR, Everquest or any other I've played over the years. People like to think that the community of the game they prefer is better than the others, but they are all the same.

I never played wow... but to me -I'm a sonic fan- and it's all the same. You get the same debates, - everything is too easy- to -everything is too hard- etc etc etc. The actual game itself in dungeons might be nice as hell but REDDIT and FORUMS are where the true toxic lives. Look at how some people reply to joke threads or posts. Noone wants to hear that crap and instantly yells at people. We got people at each others throat here, gun standoffs and epic wars going back to 2012 on these boards. Reddit has it worst cause people there PURPOSELY vote down ANYTHING that isn't with group think. So yeah :C And all of this is OUT of game. Hell people got SCOTTZONE banned!!! THAT is toxic :C

I have to agree. I've seen more people being mean to each other on this forum than I have experienced in the actual game.

It almost sounds like there are toxic people on the internet and in all gaming communities, and people like to generalise that a game's entire community is reflected by a minority of toxic people they've happened to have encountered...

I've encountered none of it...

EDIT: I thought Scottzone got himself banned by doxxing a person who sent him abuse...?
You can't blame a community for his actions, can you?
