Someone has to be parsing a fight that you're in, which requires a 3rd party program, and then they have to upload it onto the site. Unless you're doing high end content, the chances of someone not only parsing, but uploading that parse, are extremely low. What am I missing here? I just searched my name on this thing and everything is blank, so I am confused by having to "opt-in to opt-out" because nothing from my character is recorded on there? Or am I missing something here? Also, I really don't care if people want to see my DMG or how I perform because their opinion on the matter means nothing to me. I play this game for FUN, not to treat content like some job and to only run with people who are elite god tier players. I mean shaming me or calling me out isn't going to phase me, I also have no issues leaving a party to run with people where I am wanted rather than unwanted.
I also see no reason to come out against people who want to treat this game as super serious, be hardcore raiders or EX/Savage runners and want to make sure they are doing it efficiently. I, of course, would love to tackle such content but would form my own party of "Misfits who Don't Normal Raid, Let's Try and Probably Die" party. XD
Make SCH great again! Seriously though, we just want our class to be fun and engaging again, not OP, is that too much to ask for?

Masterful post by OP. Clearly baited a majority of the forums into responding and actually turning this troll post into a discussion.
Awesome.

Long story short, are you upset the resources pinged your character? I mean, there's options to opt your character out of their system...
I think the argument is that that should be the other way around, where you're not in the system by default and you have to manually opt into it.
Also, I think it'd be okay if whoever owns FFlogs was paying Square-Enix to implement that system. They are using SE's data for their information after all.

Should parsing be illegal? I dunno but with se cracking down on 3rd party software now, who knows what could happen to fflogs.

What a necro. This OP is familiar to me.
Hazy, was it worth it? Was making this bait post worth it in hindsight?
How far things have come since back then.

They've necro'ed 2019, 2017, and 2015 thread. I'm surprised they didn't necro a 2013 next! (is there even one? lmao)

Is FFLOGS illegal ? NO
Is ACT illegal ? NO
BECAUSE for something to be illegal it needs to break a LAW not a contract. We all have a contract which says no 3rd party tool and this can be in violation but is FFLOG in violation of this ?
NO, it is not because FFLOGs do not use the Tool. The player use this tool but even then the tool takes the data we are given already.
The only thing SE could ask and this would be pathetic, to aks to change certain symbols. Thats it. Numbers are not worthy of protection under copyright law and to answer the last question ? No you cant DMCA FFLOGS.
SE took the Youtube vidoes down under the assumption that there is no transformation of content - i cant evaluate on that, never saw the video but some people should really read more (especially the definition of illegal).
IS ACT bad or evil ? No. Does ACT make you win or "training wheel" fights ? No, how do you come to this conclusion ? I use tools all the time since the begining of raiding to remember timed things or Boss HP related things.. is my windows alarm clock also "illegal" (stop using that word)
or my post-it on my monitor or our DNC that makes call outs because the rotation is very easy - all "illegal" now. Call the police, the army even the navy these people need some beating. (/s)
Okay for real, i read a lot of opinions based on rumors and lies : ACT will not give you some miracle powers, skills or knowledge - you need to get the skills and knowledege or you will not beat any fight. This was an rant. Thank you for reading.
