I'm amused by the idea of this being a cultural thing. Like, "Non-alcoholic? No, that can't be right. We'd better give them beer instead. And one-and-a-half times what they asked for, just to be safe."Or at the very least accept that things get lost in translation if that's what's happening here. My German is awful, for example, last year when I was in Germany I ordered 2 colas and came back with 3 beers & I accepted it could have been lost in translation, but then it's also Germany so that could have just been a cultural thing.
To be fair a few years ago I tried ordering a cola and the guy was like "beer?" I said "no, cola" and his response was "beer...?". So I'd not be surprised. Serves me right before going to Germany and not ordering a beer.I'm not a beer drinker, sadly...except in the case I was given the beers, or when I had a random Swedish guy give me a man-hug and beer because he declared himself a true Viking.
