Anything given regardless of its mechanics sounds like pure bloat to me. I'll happily pass on Water and Ice until they do something new to, but cohesive with, the RDM XIV lore, style, and toolkit.
So painfully true. But that just makes it all the worse to me when suggestions toss in Ice and Water without picking for any of the plethora of avenues for mechanical advancement and instead just offer it as flavor text -- or more of the same long past the point where, to stretch an analogy, another mouthful of sickeningly over-sweet fudge would be at all appetizing. Or, RNG atop RNG atop RNG, to take an example from this thread. At that point they may as well have just become the AoEs themselves, simply name-swapping what we have now. At least then we'd have reason to build into future elemental combos such as through Water->Lightning or Ice->Stone, or, again, any of various other mechanics... (Though, even all that could have been done as easily through just having Scatter be a short cast which would make the next spell deal reduced damage but as an AoE.)

Honestly I wouldn't be against having Ice and Water as procs like Fire and Stone (I've suggested before having them be Instants we can toss out like our own Thundercloud, or longcast replacements that only get their full value when alternated), I'm just concerned about them being procs solely activated by proc spells, since as you said -- RNG on RNG on RNG. The act of having all six elements as skills in separate role pairings opens up avenues for being able to hold all six elements at once and chaining them for a potential alternative bonus.

Honestly, not sure if you've played GNB, they could do a mechanic like it's "Continuation" blade combo. Something simple, that wouldn't mangle player's brains.Honestly I wouldn't be against having Ice and Water as procs like Fire and Stone (I've suggested before having them be Instants we can toss out like our own Thundercloud, or longcast replacements that only get their full value when alternated), I'm just concerned about them being procs solely activated by proc spells, since as you said -- RNG on RNG on RNG. A 6-fold Elemental Wheel Rotation, they could call Magic Burst / Magic Link / idk, Magic Chain / Chainspell, too early to think up a name lol.
But it could allow the RDM to press OGCD and like the Continuation GNB Combo, it automatically chains an elemental wheel that instantly casts spells in successful order. *Not Basing this off of the FFXIV Elemental wheel. But here's a rough example XD
Verfire >> Veraero / Verthunder >> Verstone / Verwater >> Verblizzard | That's keeping White [25] / Black [25] mana balanced
And as Shurrikhan said before you:
The idea of the thread was on how they could potentially tie-in Verwater / Verblizzard in to the RDM's mechanic of Proc's [RNG of course XD] with Verstone / Verfire Ready + and giving their AoE's a counterpart spells more potent (Opposite of Regular rotation) like Proc's. Didn't want to change the White / Black mana meter build too much, as seeing how little RDM changed in SHb I see SE Dev's want to keep it the way it is.So painfully true. But, if they do introduce Verwater / Verblizzard they could in fact do elemental combos. I'd love to see a shift in RDM's identity in the near future from "Rezmage" to an "Elementalist" that can chain it's Black / White magic with their opposites for grander potencies. It's what I wanted for a DPS Geomancer a while back.
