What happened to this thread.

Those disgusting men you're talking about have dealt with a lot. They really enjoy this game, and they want to use a feature meant for a special bond somewhat as it was intended at least. The straight men don't exactly want this sort of thing with a guy. Imagine that guy talking about FFXIV to a group of friends "Yeah I'm married to a guy in the game but I'm totally straight, honest". It might not be that serious, but they also might not be able live it down for a while. It's outside of their cultural norm. And maybe they're single and lonely and they're looking for something more, but it's not as if all men in this situation are demanding something more. I think most men are perfectly capable of a platonic relationship with a woman, and perhaps that most straight men are not so comfortable with such a relationship with another man.

Before we are divided between male and female, we are all human, and it's sad whenever such division breeds animosity, whether it's towards one way or the other.

But...a few things can happen, just you responding right now can trigger it TBH. your char name and location is posted next to it. some of the creepers may find you in game and act a fool. Don't take no for an answer that you aren't interested or compatible. Some make alts and join your FC and all. If you post your discord, they have two ways of contacting you. and they can make multi accounts in discord and appear again in your life until you figure it out. soo many things happen. just be careful and cautious. Please remember, don't hold the baggage from any past experiences though, you may pass up a really great person to be friends with if you do. Girl Power! giggling

yeah, these all match up with what I've heard. no reason to be discouraged but everyone is different in what they can handle so it's good to know.

I beleive there's usual a reason for everybody being how they are, whever it be good or bad and somebody is or just isn't their cup of tea ^^, there may be a few people poking and such but I don't think it's a personal attack towards men, women can dothe same stuff

Well said, no matter where in life on a game, online or in RL you got some bad seeds and some good ones you cant judge everyone by a few bad nuts it happens like I said I met some guys who didn't respect the boundries but I also met some both gay and straight who I adore and love to pieces same with females met some crazies but more often than not I met some really cool lasting friend on games, hell I am FB friend with people I use to play vanilla wow with back in 06. As I stated as long as the honesty card is there regardless of gender or preference I feel if honesty and respect is there if anything you walk away with a friend if nothing more.

That's like going to a chicken-themed restaurant and being told by an employee that their specialty is chicken sandwiches, but if you MUST have chicken in that sandwich, that's a little fishy, and is a red flag to the company as a whole.

To be fair it's exactly what most guys who haven't had much experience are told to do.

Society and the general consensus is that "friendship builds the true foundation of love in a serious relationship" and that's about 70% true.

So some men think that's the appropriate way to approach this situation so they start with friends, and for most men I would say that's a good move. The problem is, you have to communicate you are inclined to find a real relationship one day as that is your goal in life.

That leads to these incorrect statements "looking for friends maybe more" that leads to high expectations. The statement should be " looking for people to spend time with both Male and female" and let that naturally go wherever the wind blows. With that statement you are more likely to get a response from women who are open to at minimum just a friend ship and God knows everyone can use more meme buddies right? Also this is how you date IRL, shit you can go on 100 dates before you find a semi casual relationship. So it's just inexperience on how to approach the situation. Unfortunately being straight up honest " looking to get married in game and IRL live together in 3 years 2 months time and have 3 kids and a dog " is going to put waayyyyyyyyyy to much pressure and expectations on the relationship. Anyone who has ever been in a situation where they feel they are expected to perform romantically ,knows it is never going to work.

Then if you manage to snag a female friend, that can lead you to the dreaded obsessive one sided relationship or the friendzone because you are the very few if ONLY real interaction they had on a personal level (being open about feelings, sharing interests and maybe some psuedo sexual stuff). Honestly for the demographic of men in this particular situation its inevitable they dont have a ton of experience navigating these waters emotionally and it can lead to alot of bad things. In this case experiance is directly linked to maturity. That being said I would give them a pass in regards to this and explain it to them. They will learn or they wont. Dont endanger yourself but speak to them about how to emotionally navigate it. If you dont know how to educate them about it, point them to someone that can, usually a good Male role model you know.

Ultimately the lack of IRL social experience carries over into the game. IRL dynamics of dating are important to everyone because some forget there flesh sacks on the other side not just a robot. Dawn of the internet and social media and dating website and *threads* only made this worse. Unfortunately people who dont have much IRL experience tend to look towards stereotype methods without understanding the nuances that make it work. I mean I could go on forever about how people misinterpret confidence etc etc. Anyways rant over.
