Similarly, budget CPUs are going to run in the same price range. So, at best, you're already at $300 for the GPU and CPU, leaving $50 for Motherboard, RAM, PSU, HDD, tower, OS, and peripherals? Please. And this is BUDGET. Which, even if it runs any "game you throw at it," will run most of it not very well.

Now a console? PS4 Slim will cost you $299 and it has everything you need to run it (including the only mandatory peripheral). It's not even close.

To the larger topic at hand, S-E really needs to address the parser on PC but not PS4. It's disturbing that they are OK with giving PC players more tools than PS4 players. Either both get parsers or neither does.
Budget on PC doesnt mean the cheapest stuff you could buy, but best price to performance ratio you could build with.
A decent PC that will run this game at 60+ fps will cost you about 600$, and that one will deliver.

The fact is, you cannot build a budget PC that will run AAA games at 60 FPS, in 2019, at a $350 budget.
Today is the best time to buy PC a market ever had.
Decent CPUs, cheap GPUs, cheap memory, cheap ssd.
It is the cheapest since ever.

    Yes.

Anyway, you don't need to believe me. I said what I had to say, and I've learned my lesson from dealing with this forum - prolonged exchanges don't end well here.

    Have a nice day.

I don't doubt that you have a 1070 in your rig. What I do doubt is: a) that you scored yours for 75% off; and b) that you think it's reasonable that every one building a PC is going to get a solid GPU for 75% off.

I never said budget is the cheapest stuff you can buy. What I'm contesting is this mythical AAA 60 FPS rig that comes in at a $350 budget. Your $600 budget is much more reasonable, but also twice the price of a PS4 slim. To a lot of people—including myself—there's not enough value there.

It is possible to get them that cheap. Probably some crypto miner wanting to ditch his tortured card.

Your wish is immediately granted. SE does not provide a parser for either PS4 or PC.

Yeah PCs should be limited to 30 fps! It's disturbing that they are OK with giving PC players more tools than PS4 players. Either both get high fps or neither does

You get like 80-90 fps on the 600$ machine, you get twice as much as you do on PS4 slim if not more.
Better graphics, better range of rendering, multitasking, being able to plug in 2 screens, play the game and do something on the other screen, xbox controller (if you want) etc.

Yeah but I can do the same thing using my girlfriend's already-owned television and PS4 set up next to mine, or I can run something on my phone while I use my PS4, or turn on something on my laptop (which runs games like crap because it's old as dirt) and enjoy Netflix/check a guide/whatever. So I've still got the $300 console and can still do everything you just listed (task-wise, not graphics/performance wise of course) without spending any extra money, or buying a second computer monitor to do so.

Don't get me wrong -- I want a gaming PC. It's on my list of things to save up for. But as a single parent on limited income, it's kind of at the bottom of my list of things to save up for. And every time someone starts talking about how if I only spent 2-3x what I already had, I could do most of what I already can do, but with marginally nicer graphics ... I just have to laugh in poor person.

Is there a contest on how many times a thread can be derailed?
Hardware is not the limiting factor in regards to a PlayStation parser. It's a software compatibility issue that would need to be resolved by SE creating one that is accessable in game or Sony creating and maintaining a very specific product for a very specific game that wouldn't be endorsed by the game creators.

Since this thread is already offtopic. I'm going to go ahead and through this 2 cents in about costs.

I've been gaming for a bit over 32 years now. I started PC gaming back about 20 years ago. In the last 20 years, I've spent less money than the first 12 years. You all are probably wondering how that is. That's easy. All of my Intellivision, NES, SNES, and N64 games were $50 a piece. PC games by comparison have been about 5-40 a piece. I've also had only 3 PCs in that time. Upgrading parts as needed. Extra controllers and the like also got way more expensive.

Also.. just to throw this more in favor of the recent PC purchases. Those dollar amounts were NOT adjusted for inflation. Adjusting for inflation Super Mario Bros 3 was nearly $100 in today's currency. Let that one sink in.

The reason I don't play console is I cannot afford it. There's no way to justify it. With one exception, I did pick up a Wii for $99 a few years ago from Best Buy, this is when they were getting rid of them for the WiiU release. I decided to get one for the bowling game and some others for cheap. But you can't do that for FFXIV. If you bought a PS3 right as PS4 hit, you'd eventually lose access to the game. I don't have that issue on my PC. My PC that played this game back when I started playing it, still does. It cost nothing to keep playing except the monthly fee.

Wish is not granted; PC players can still use a parser. Either S-E needs to completely block third party addons, or provide a parser for PS4. One or the other. Otherwise, they're intentionally allowing an unfair playing field.

None of which is worth the extra $300 dollars (would much rather spend that money on additional games). Better graphics? True, but not enough. Multi-tasking and two screens? I gave up desk and monitor gaming long ago (TV is so much better). The extra frames are the only thing that I miss, but not really.

So yea, you get a better rig, but not enough to justify it, imo.
