Guys, just stop playing healers, play BLM instead, this job is straight up cash money.

Thanks for the suggestion. SCH will always be my favorite, even in stormy weather, but thanks to Role Quests I have played more dps jobs than before. SMN and MCH feel as engaging and busy as I used to feel on SCH so might just try BLM aswell. This just made realize is probably why I found sch to be so engaging: based on a DPS class where you're meant to be busy, and it was also one with pet management (ordering it while casting, placing it and keeping it alive), utility for making mobs do less damage and dot management. They added shields and a healing fairy on top of that and called it SCH and it was a fantastic playstyle. This is the kind of design philosophy I feel they should go back to for SCH. I like healing, but love support: finding other ways to help the party or look for oppertunities to exploit so the enemy is less effective. Then being able to perform this in almost any part of the game.

thank god for personal opinion but it irks me so much when people say sch was a busy class. I mean???? Depends who you ask, nobody thought scholar was this giant, galaxy brained, class, but you always had something to do, be it micromanaging fairy, applying one of your dots, using an aetherflow on ED or an oGCD heal, making sure you keep shadow flare up, and watching people's hp bars. Sure some of those are still there, namely the watching hp bar, but everything else, it's gone. You have 1 dot that needs to be applied every 30 seconds. Theres no risk vs reward with aetherflow, and I have given up on trying to use it all before refreshing it. Fairy feels more like a chore now, and since they made her so weak, shes barely even worth using, and, outside of recitation, nothing we got was worth what we lost.

It was never a risk/reward job to begin with. Its just how most people wants to view it as. Otw ur a greedy sch that doesnt know how to utlize and create tunnel vision.
Well it is a personal matter anyways. I never found sch that difficult. SCH sure was my type of playstyle but it has not changed THAT much.(yeye i might be deluded).

But hey SCH did stem from Arcanist hence they kept some of the tools. I had problems with Shadow Flare Macro. And Miasma II Visual was meh and so goes for the Art of war. If they only fused both of them tho with AoW and Miasma II coming up from the ground with sparkly glittery stuff or extreme visual i totally buy that.
That leaves Miasma And ED. Well... eh i liked ED so nothing much to say there. Miasma was eh there. atleast one of them stayed and that is Bio. Sure its «boring» for most but i sure dislike using GCD skills.

Besides my Aetherflow only went for Indom and ED back in HW and SB. May reraly occasion with Exco depends on the fight.
I do agree on fairy part tho. Also i added a slight sarcasm on my last words on pre post about the healing kit... .

I may be one of those with unpopular opinions but hey. The likes on this forum arent accurate.

It was very much a risk and reward job, the more you learned to optimize and where to heal less, the more EDs you got, if you got too greedy though, you screwed yourself out of a free heal and either had to heal with a GCD or let someone die, it was a lovely system. And I honestly cannot say it feels the same with what it lost, yes, it was classified as a healer but most people I've met agreed that it was fun because it was the healer/dps hybrid. Its rotation wasnt complex, but it had a rotation! It's main resource was for dps and healing, and while I never had the pleasure of trying HW, I hear about how wonderful it was and truly being able to be a dps/healer hybrid. Now scholar is nothing but broil machine 3000 with half a dozen unnecessary heals (physick, Fey blessing, seraph, the HoT on sacred, or just sacred in general honestly, Fey union, and a lot will argue for dissipation, which ironically would've been great this expac if we still had ED, go figure) not to say any of those abilities are entirely useless, they're certainly not, but remove them and I doubt any scholar would have trouble healing any content.

I have no idea if scholar was or is the more complex healer job, I've never had ast or whm at max level so can't rightly say. All I know is that Ruin went from being the least used spell in my arsenal to Broil III being the most used since 2.0, that I think is a symptom of the problem with the job as it strayed further and further from the Arcanist roots.
