dont protect the new players getting into shadowbringer, youll get the crybabies and ragers on your back for speaking out of common sense.
I guess the upside is tanks are easily replaced right now.Not something that happened to me, just passing on something i heard from someone i know.
So this guy is going into Holminster Switch as a White Mage...and immediately notices something is wrong.
The Gunbreaker tank has absolute flaming garbage HP...a quick look reveals he is wearing nothing but level 1 glamour gear, aside from the 390 weapon.
The rest of the party is like "OH MY GOD WHY!?"
And the tank goes "LOL! Trollolololol" revealing that he qued in like that on purpose just to screw with people. Because the game let him do it and he finds it funny when people freak out upon noticing.

Holminster Switch Paladin tank
Not a hi hello or nothing he's out the door charging off pulling everything to the webbing no cooldowns. We die of course because nobody was ready He was out of range and LoS that I couldn't have popped a heal to save anyone. Well we do it again I keep him up by blowing every cooldown I had only for tank to do it again posting jesus take the wheel as he eats more damage than I can heal while everythign still recouperating and I have my mp down in the hundreds tank dies and is replaced by a much more levelheaded and cooldown using paladin.
"Sometimes I wonder I heal for fun. or if I heal because I'm a glutton for punishment."

Read back through the thread: the person wasn’t new. They already had multiple level 80 jobs. New or no, there’s no excuse to be in i290 gear in Shadowbringers dungeons—the MSQ gives you free i385 HQ gear before you get to the dungeon, and Stormblood’s MSQ has prior item level locks that you have to satisfy (e.g., Skalla, Castrum Fluminis, Ghimlyt Dark).
Please read before you start spouting off nonsense about “crybabies and ragers”.

Maybe I'll kick you!
Not a new player. A lazy mentor, but what kind of mentors are there that aren't who display the crown?
Exactly. Someone can be new to the content, as in they are new to the dungeon, even a mentor. They however, should not lack the common sense to go into that dungeon, especially as a tank, in gear that won't have you literally dropping dead in seconds. Making that player functionally useless.Read back through the thread: the person wasn’t new. They already had multiple level 80 jobs. In case you don't already know, I think I am going to have to start having a disclaimer that I exaggerate in a lot of my posts. Humor is very hard to display in text.

Got my laugh for today earlier before work:
Be me. have a dancer in the party and me being monk at Holmster Switch. IMMEDIATELY two mentors one of which making One Punch Man referances, and the dancer hitting me on Devilment at all the right times...everything's melting at a rate that made me feel like a Sam.
to be honest I kept a straight face on some of the jokes right up until the healer/tank had to remind me to limit break. me: 'I forgot! o.o'
Have one of the mentors Scream ONE PUUUUUUNCH when it goes off. I had a great time!
There is absolutely no excuse for those who lvl and msq skipped.
They know nothing about the game, and yet they try to run content with other people and not doing even their job properly, using 1/3 of their skillset of the job they are playing too.
When i see dps doing less damage than me i want to plug off my PC from the socket...

There are no new players starting in shadowbringers. If someone skips without reading their tooltips, deservedly make them unwelcome until they do their homework.

Having taken SCH and WHM to 80, and have gotten my weekly drops from Edens Gate, I pick up my AST and drop myself into the 50/60/70 roulette and draw The Aetherochemical Research Facility. I was put with a MCH, DNC, and DRK
On the first pull, I immediately notice something wrong. The DRK we got is face pulling, not using any of his AE aggro tools, and aggro is all over the place. I look for his tank stance and see immediately he's not in Grit.
Oh FFS
Didn't even have to check Lodestone - this guy had all the earmarks of a first time tank who had just job-potted his way up.
DPS and I all begged for him to turn on Grit - he responded by complying.
Okay, he's reading chat - let's give him a chance
In the back of my mind I remember that I just dropped a group earlier in the day due to frustration of a tank not adjusting pulls back. (I'm really struggling to handle big pulls on the AST. I can do it with SCH and WHM with my eyes closed - but not on AST). So I kinda accept this as my Karma for giving up and decide to stick with it as long as the DPS sticks it out.
And stick it out they did. Both the MCH and DNC obviously know what they're doing and are overgeared like me - so we deal with the aggro all over the place and accept the smaller pulls to get through it. We tried in vain to get him to use his AE combo - but none of us played DRK and didn't know what abilities to suggest (And the DRK was quiet the whole run)
I'm not sure how we managed to clear it without more than one wipe, but we did. I'm just glad it wasn't something that hit harder, otherwise it might of been more miserable than it was.
Ah well, was a nice change from trying to keep up with big pulls with AST's gimped healing.
