Gamer Escape: We know that Ishgard Reconstruction is going to be considered crafting and gathering endgame content. Can you elaborate more on what this means? Will it be only level 80?

Naoki Yoshida: First and foremost, how this will be flagged as far as completion will not be by individual player, it will be flagged based on the entire world. The basic concept is going to be that all of the players within a particular world are going to rebuild Ishgard. Of course you can contribute more if you have a higher level crafter or gatherer, so in that sense you would be able to contribute more. There is also an element, however, where if your character does not have the crafter or gatherer jobs sufficiently leveled, you can purchase something like a lottery ticket that will allow you to participate in the reconstruction. Also, as more of Ishgard is reconstructed, there will be festivals that will be held, kind of like a seasonal event, and players can participate in those events to obtain additional rewards.

Finally, there will also be a ranking system where, if you are one of the top crafters or gatherers, you will have a title that can be awarded to you or a tool that you can obtain, sort of reminiscent of the ultimate battle weapons. So that will be an element for the top crafters and gatherers to attempt to achieve as well.

That is likely a glamour, the tool part I mean. I want to be proven wrong though, but it’s very unlikely. SE has a bad track record of hyping things up like this, and then when it drops, it’s a huge flop/disappointment. And that’s coming from someone with low expectations out of FFXIV.

Crafting doesn't need to become super-intense, rng-infested, top 1% exclusive. In most areas its fine. Crafting is in a good spot while leveling. It's fine if most players can craft most of the items in the game. It's just at the top endgame it should have a little difficulty. Something to make you think about your melds, have to work a bit to get the materials, have to gear properly before you have the privilege of being able to afk macro stuff. Such as during SB when the first craft set came out. It's not asking much.
If your only experience is WOW crafting that may be true.

FF14's crafting is WoW with extra steps. Don't try to sell it as anything more. Way more engaging systems have been created.

    I don't. Oo
How often do I need to tell you that TIME INVESTED does not equal DIFFICULTY?!

I like the fact that I don't have to invest ridiculous amounts of time, absolutely.
I already agreed with you that the current system is to easy on the player skill.

Like I posted in the other thread: I want crafting to become more intelligent, not more time consuming.

As for the "condescending" sorry but that no-life opening you showed was just too easy to ignore.
Take it as a tongue in cheek comment, delivered with sparkling eyes and a chuckle, not as an insult because it wasn't intended as one.

I don't really find a lot of solace in, "Hey, so we're ruining crafting, but like 3 of you can enjoy a new glamour or title or something."

But you are also making things unfair for the people who are hardcore, or enjoy challenges and earning their crafting gear/rewards. This is what I’m talking about. Your mindset comes across as selfish and tunnel visioned to only meet *your* needs. Why does the hardcore crowd need to be ignored and silenced?

Because you can’t (or won’t) put enough time into the game’s crafting aspect? Come on, that is ridiculous logic...and quite frankly, insulting. Both types of players need to be listened to. Not just you.

As for Ishgard, we are complaining because we are 99.9% sure with absolute certainty that the “tools” will be fancy glamour. Nothing stat-wise that will motivate us to even participate. We want challenges, and we want to be compensated for those challenges. That’s all.

You want to silence hardcore crafters, and not allow them to have a voice before Square Enix’s eyes. You want crafting to become such a joke, to where literally, my 12 year old niece can even HQ something.

Your mindset is just selfish, illogical, and greedy. You have no intentions of making this fair for both players.

Live Letter is soon, guys. Here is the link to my question on page 28:

It’s time we deserved an answer for something we love being slowly turned into a children’s game.

Hardcore people whi really enjoy challenge do NOT ask for reward...

You just as casual as normal people when you ask for reward to do something because that mean you are NOT enjoying the process, just a casual who had more time to play...

Someone who monopolizes all 8 servers on Primal with all end game level 80 gear....and who earns around 600 - 800M Gil a month....who makes their own rotations...is “casual” to you? lol If you say so!

Secondly. Actually, we have always asked for rewards, or something that would feel rewarding to us. ARR was extremely hard, I’ll admit. Crafting turn ins to obtain things like Lucis Tools were crazy. But what did you expect? You wanted Square Enix to just hold your hand in the game, and give you Lucis tools for free?! You sound absolutely ridiculous right now with that insane logic. You work for it. You earn it. You play with it. Easy.

Players like being rewarded, period. Being casual or hardcore has nothing to do with it, really. But in FFXIV’s case, they are ignoring their hardcore fans, and catering only to casual fans. I normally wouldn’t have a problem with this except one thing:

FFXIV’s casual players are vindictive, selfish, and very illogical with their reasoning. Therefore, they want to silence and ignore hardcore players entirely. Which results in casuals only getting what they want instead of catering to both players.

You are just selfish, plain and simple. And it’s very disheartening that something I love cannot be put into equilibrium because most of the casual player base acts like you, and refuses to make peace with hardcore players, even when presented the opportunity to do so.
