To be fair you have to go way out of your way to be able to make a female Miqo'te or Au Ra that doesn't look like forever-17, I don't think the "older mature woman" was ever the aesthetic aimed at. Which is also one of the reasons I think some people are changing back. Viera definitely don't have the "sweet youth" feel to them, though I blame it on the lack of hair options since the other female races have some modern looking stuff that helps with the whole young&cool aesthetic.
For Au Ra there were other problems. Face/Horns lock, for example, and ridiculous dimorphism between males and females. That's what I can remember, at least.
Vieras are still waifu style, though? But they are certainly more mature and hot looking than Au Ra, that's true. Their only issue for now are limited hairs. And maybe height for somebody, but it's not so annoying as being unable to use any of Mog/PvP/Events/etc hairstyles.
Yep, and most of the headgear is locked out. Can't even wear hats. It really takes away from the race. Just a little too limited for my taste. I play Au Ra/Miqo'te about equally, so I guess I am back to that.
I just need to choose one and stick with it. I spent too much on outfits this month, so I'm stuck as miqo'te for a good while, cause I won't spend more on the mogstation.
One thing about viera though, and because of it, is I started coming around to the darker skin tones overall. I think I like playing a relatively tanned/darker character more than a lighter skin tone now. I think it just looks better aesthetically in-game. Plus more unique (skin color wise).
Playerbase mostly seem to ignore headgear in fact, except such things as glasses or flowers. But yeah, not having an opportunity to wear a hat even if you normally don't do this anyway is unpleasant, I'm agree.Yep, and most of the headgear is locked out. Can't even wear hats. As for skin colors - it depends on character a lot... I remember I tried to make mine more dark skinned, but it just doesn't really suit him. Don't know why.
You can't even preview any of the hats. So you don't even know what they look like. Yeah, I'm one who doesn't really wear helmets, I don't know why it really bothered me. I change my character's look so much taht I was feeling the lack of hairstyles I paid money/grinded for for sure though. I like about 3 viera hairstyles(the pony tail is amazing!)Playerbase mostly seem to ignore headgear in fact, except such things as glasses or flowers. Yeah, for sure it definitly depends on the character. You'd have to design it around the darker tone. I wouldn't make the au ra I always play darker, she has a specific look and when I fantasia to her it's usually always the same except for height/eye color (very minor changes).

I find it a bit curious that the Au Ra population bled more numbers from the introduction of Viera then Miqo'te, since I figured the cuter look of the females was what drew people to them.
I'm pretty certain the lack of Allied Race characters in WoW is more on the fact that all of them are quest unlocks. You can't make a new Void Elf, Nightborne or Lightforged Draenei (the pretty races) without having a level 110 character, Exalted rep and a quest chain.I also think the later you go in an MMOs life, the fewer and fewer people show interest in new races.
Just look at the census for WoW- belfs, humans, night elves are still the top three races by a massive margin- as in, half the playerbase or more plays them. Even compare belfs and velfs, same model different factions, velfs giving the Alliance their long sought high elf model.
Belfs are around 30%, I don't think velfs are even 3% of max levels- and each xpac comes with a level boost potion so it's not like the levelling process is a big factor anymore.
This would be like if you needed a level 60/level 80 character that is Bloodsworn/Allied with specific Beast Tribes to unlock Au Ra, Viera and Hrothgar.
I see more bunnies than cats right now, it blew up like a TNT.
There are bunnies everywhere.
I love being a Viera, and have no issues with the limited hairstyles (though Lightning's would be nice) and the lack of headgear. I usually always keep my headgear hidden anyway, minus glasses. The Viera are still very unique and I have seen plenty of variations in both Viera and Hrothgar.
Of course, the population boom will balance itself out, but I love the diversity they bring.
